Sue Parker says the expanded construction plans for Ludington Street in Escanaba is going to be a major disruption for the downtown but says it is a needed project. She is owner of Nyman Jewelers and chair of the Escanaba Downtown Development Authority.

Arts groups and programming is benefiting from more than 1-point-3 million dollars grants awarded by the Michigan Arts & Culture Council that support creative programs, cultural institutions, and community initiatives across the U.P. Bay College plans to re-start its practical nursing in May at its Escanaba campus. The program was paused in early 2025 after failing to meet state approval from the Michigan State Board of Nursing. Bay President Nerita Hughes says applicants need to have completed the necessary prerequisite courses to enter the program.
