    • Just the Rant: State GOP decides you don't need a choice in the March presidential primary.

      From the Rant:

What the state GOP committee has done -- taking away your choice on March 24 -- has happened in other states and in other elections. But what if one of those candidates “gets hot” as the saying goes in the early primaries, you know, like Donald Trump did in 2016? Are they showing presumed loyalty to the commander-in-chief?

How about some loyalty to the American election process? Isn’t that what a primary is about, allowing party voters to pick their nominee?

More important, where are our Republican elected leaders in all this – state lawmakers, members of Congress, governor and others. Don’t they have some imput with the state committee? Why haven’t they spoken up?

        Quote out:

"And in Georgia, as we await Brian Kemp’s formal announcement Wednesday that Kelly Loeffler will take Isakson’s place in the Senate, the Republican Party stands divided.

"Now ask yourself: How is a party that controls the governor’s office, all state cabinet-level jobs, the state House, the state Senate and the Georgia congressional delegation divided? Never mind every elected office in Floyd County."

          • Just the Rant: Brian Kemp made the 'right' decision on the Senate seat.

Some of our newscast listeners have asked for "Just the Rant" as they've already checked today's updates from Hometown Headlines. So here's a sample:

            • On Friday, the AJC plainly stated Brian Kemp had made his choice and it was Kelly Loeffler. Kemp, responding to social media criticism, said the choice was his to make and that he was ignoring the political establishment.
            • To which we saw: bravo. Kemp is governor. He knows this state better than most. He masterminded a gubernatorial campaign that defeated the presumed heir to the crown of Nathan Deal and then withstood a furious charge from an expertly orchestrated campaign by Stacey Abrams.
