  • Hoopsville: Major Milestones (Dec. 3, 2017)
Just a few weeks into the 2017-18 season and already there are milestones being achieved. For several coaches, wins have resulted in moving up the rankgs of the very best. At the same time, we start to see newer ideas and philosophies enter the Division III game.
On Sunday night's Hoopsville, Dave chats with several coaches who continue to rack up wins and move up the charts. We aren't talking 100, 200, 300 or even 500 wins. More than 800 for one coach and two of the winningest coaches in Division III women's basketball history.
And have you heard of Rezball? It is a subculture of basketball with some similiarities with DIII while also being unique unto itself. Dave introduces us to one Division III student-athlete who came up living the Rezball live and now brings that game to college.
Hoopsville is presented by D3hoops.com and airs from the WBCA/NABC Studio.
Guests include (in order of appearance):
    - Steve More, Wooster men's coach
    - Mike Miller, Messiah women's coach

  • Hoopsville: Lots of Questions (Nov. 30, 2017)
The beginning of the 2017-18 season has been fascinating. We have seen plenty of teams take unexpected losses while at the same time teams have risen to the early season challenges. Programs are scheduling tougher competition to start the year looking to secure opportunities to keep playing in March. The results have made the opening games of the season no longer a slow build-up to conference play starting.
On Thursday's episode of Hoopsville, Dave chats with a few coaches whose programs have leaped into the Top 25, one that is in the Top 25 that Dave isn't voting for, and another Dave is curious about whether he should vote for them.
Dave also chats with a former All-American about a project he brainstormed to give Division III student-athletes more pride in showcasing their talents.
Hoopsville is presented by D3hoops.com and airs from the WBCA/NABC Studio. This week Dave is on the road at the Division III Men's and Women's Soccer Championships which means this episode is an audio-only podcast. The segments were pre-recorded earlier in the week.
Guests include (in order of appearance):
    - Adrienne Shibles, No. 17 Bowdoin women's coach
    - Kole Vivian, No. 24 Marietta women's coach
    - Sam Borst-Smith, former Rochester All-American, creator of #D3Talent
    - Dick Peth, No. 14 Wartburg men's coach

  • Hoopsville: Very Thankful (Nov. 26, 2017)
There is always a large gathering of friends and family around a large table with plenty of food that helps ring in the new basketball season. Many call it Thanksgiving, we tend to call it the second weekend of the Division III season.
And one again the early weeks of the season have not disappointed... nor been lacking surprises.
Preseason Top 25 teams have lost as often as turkeys have been overcooked this holiday week. Teams who have had surprise starts have followed up with continued surprises or more head-scratching results. However, no matter the games and no matter the wins and losses, we are thankful to have the season here and be able to talk about it.
On Sunday's Hoospville, Dave tries to gobble up the leftovers and figure out who was granted their wish after the snap of the wishbone. At the same time, we take the time to recognize a milestone at D3hoops.com: 20 years of being ... D3hoops.com - the home of Division III men's and women's basketball.
Dave also chats with a new dynamic duo in Baltimore. Hope Josh Loeffler and Catherine Bixby are settling into jobs that have seen the same coaches (Bill Nelson and Nancy Funk) in over thirty years.
Hoopsville is presented by D3hoops.com and airs from the WBCA/NABC Studio.
Guests include (in order of appearance):
    - Pat Coleman, Editor-in-Chief, D3sports.com
    - Tim Sweeney, Hobart men's coach
    - Josh Loeffler, Johns Hopkins men's coach
    - Katherine Bixby, Johns Hopkins women's coach

On Sunday's show, Dave not only took a look at some of the incredible streaks that were broken, but many of the other surprises. With the help of several guests, Dave also heard who looked best at the Great Lakes Invitational while also talking to a few teams looking for solid seasons ahead.

  • Hoopsville Preseason Podcast: Unique Opportunities
In the final installment of the Hoopsville Preseason Podcasts, Dave chats with four coaches who have their own unique roads to their new jobs. One who had more twists and turns than you an imagine including up until he made a decision. Another who is taking over for his father, but not that far removed from not even being in college or playing collegiate basketball. Another coach has moved from the men's game to the women's game while hopping around a conference he is very familiar with. And the final coach has been at a number of different institutions and now takes over a program after being the interim head coach due to an investigation.

  • Hoopsville Preseason Podcast: WashU Changes and More
Welcome to another Hoopsville Preseason Podcast. In this installment, Dave McHugh chats with Nancy Fahey who was responsible for one of the bigger news items in the offseason. Fahey decided to leave WashU after 31 years, 21 UAA championships, and 5 National Championships. Fahey explains why she made the decision and how challenging it was to walk away from WashU.
McHugh also talked to the person taking over for Fahey at WashU: Randi Henderson who returns to Division III after two years in Division I. Henderson, the former head coach at Coe, was the selection from a very competitive group of coaches vying for the Bears job. Henderson discusses why this job was on a short list of ones she would be willing to go for and her reaction when she got the call.
We didn't just talk about WashU and women's basketball. McHugh was able to corral Mark Scherer who is back in the CCIW after a four year absence. Scherer talks about what he has done since he left Elmhurst and what intrigued him about jumping back in with the Big Blue.
