  • Two For One Special: UVA Wins by an Inch in Chapel Hill, Lessons From Hoops

    Virginia survives by an inch in Chapel Hill and Ryan Odom makes his JPJ debut (kind of), Preston and Justin Ferber from Cavs Corner dive into a busy weekend for the Wahoos.

    First, Preston and Justin react to Virginia hanging on to win 17-16 in overtime against UNC and Bill Belichick with their One BIG Take. Then Preston calls an audible for the Hoos On Player of the Game handing the honor to Mitchell Melton, while Justin discusses a mostly solid game from the defense.

    Preston and Justin then devote their time to the question on everyone's mind: What's wrong with the UVA offense? The guys discuss Chandler Morris, the offensive line, Des Kitchings, injuries and an overall lack of rhythm. Then they look ahead at the remainder of Virginia's schedule to ponder what the rest of the season could look like.

    Finally, Preston and Justin react to Virginia's final exhibition against Villanova. They each toss three things they learned about the Cavaliers, including Malik Thomas living up to expectations, the rotation and defensive concerns.

    Virginia rides a 5-game win streak into 130th The South's Oldest Rivalry, Preston is joined by UVA alum and Barstool's Jake Malasek, who makes his first appearance since last year's matchup between UNC and UVA.

    First, Preston and Jake take a vibe check for Virginia football after the program's best start since 2007. Jake talks through a run of one possession victories for the Cavaliers and assesses their ACC Championship and College Football Playoff chances. Then Jake breaks down Chandler Morris and ranks recent UVA quarterbacks on a confidence scale.

    Later Preston and Jake preview The South's Oldest Rivalry with their thoughts on year one of Bill Belichick at UNC before giving their predictions. Finally, Jake gives his early impressions of UVA men's basketball under Ryan Odom.

  • Safety First: UVA Storms Back to Beat Wazzu + Hoops Thoughts

    The Cardiac Cavs are back with another thriller and Preston is back with Kris Wright from The Sabre to break down the come back win over Washington State and thoughts on Virginia's exhibition at Vanderbilt.

    First, Preston and Kris talk about the wild, heart-pumping results for the Cavaliers this season and over the years before discussing a fantastic atmosphere at Scott Stadium. Then Preston hands out the Hoos On Player of the Game to Kam Robinson for his walk-off safety and Kris gives the UVA star linebacker some more flowers.

    Later Preston and Kris break down some of the offensive issues in the last two games from a lack of rhythm to Chandler Morris. Then the guys shine a light on the play of nickel Ja'son Prevard and kicker Will Bettridge, who made key plays in the comeback.     A fall double feature on the Hoos On Podcast, as Preston catches up with Greg Madia from The Daily Progress to hand out midseason grades and preview Washington State and then welcomes on UVA shortstop Eric Becker to chop it up about fall baseball.

    First, Preston and Greg talk through all of the injury updates for UVA coming off the bye week and the position the offensive line is in now.     Virginia returns to action after the bye week, but first Preston catches up with UVA wide receiver Trell Harris to talk about the team's 5-1 start, his inspiration and why the Cavaliers are exactly where they thought they would be.

    Preston and Trell talk about a well-timed bye week for UVA and the bye week routine for the team's leading receiver. Then Trell walks through some of the biggest moments of the season, including the win over Florida State and the moment he shared with his family. Preston then asks Trell when he realized this Virginia team was different, what playing in this offense is like and how Chandler Morris has set the tone.

    Later Trell tells the story of how receivers coach Adam Mims fought through the snow to land the Kent State transfer's commitment. Preston and Trell also walkthrough one of Harris' biggest motivations to play football at a high level. Finally, Trell shares why no one inside the building at UVA is surprised by their start or shy about where they want to go.

    ESPN's Seth Greenberg hops on next as a lifelong friend to Ryan Odom and family. David shares why he believes the Cavaliers are a different looking team from adapting to the college landscape, the transfer portal and internal growth on offense.     30 years after one of the signature wins in Virginia program history, Preston welcomes on Demetrius "Petey" Allen to look back at the 1995 UVA win over No. 2 Florida State and preview this Friday night's primetime matchup at Scott Stadium.

    First, Preston and Demetrius set the stage for the 1995 season, which included close losses to Michigan and Texas leading up to the Floria State game. Then Demetrius walks through some of the greatest moments from the 1995 matchup between Virginia and Florida State including Tiki Barber's performance, the James Farrior blocked punt, his own 72-yard touchdown and stopping Warrick Dunn. Plus, Petey shares a few stories for the first time like how he celebrated his touchdown and getting fans off the field before "The Stop".

    Demetrius also touches on his legendary Peach Bowl kickoff return against Georgia and shares his excitement for this week's Florida State-UVA game in Charlottesville.
