After going undefeated and winning state their senior year, the dynamic duo of Steve Downing and George McGinnis headed south to join a struggling IU program led by Coach Lou Watson. Two years later, Watson was fired and McGinnis jumped to the pros, leaving only Downing to join forces with the intimidating new coach, Robert Montgomery Knight. Downing not only survived, he thrived, posting some of the most ridiculous, jaw-dropping stat lines ever produced by Hoosier, all the while leading his team to a Big Ten Championship and the Final Four.
