A great evil in the world is when people are treated differently, it's even worse when it happens in church and so James is clear - there should be No Favourites! Malcolm, looks at chapter 2 of James' letter and encourages us who have received mercy, to extend it to others.
James, the half brother of Jesus, wrote this book with the main focus that Christians shouldn't just talk but should act, they shouldn't just be hearers of the word, but doers too.
At the time of writing, a concern that James addresses in his book is that Christians should be distinct from the culture in the way they behave and act. For us in Guildford it's easy to fall into worldly patterns of behaviour and so this book will challenge us to live like God intended.
For the hands of any clock to move, the cogs work together - so does what we believe and what we say. In James we see that not only does faith work, but faith works!
