Happy New Year! It is the first Sunday of the new year, and we celebrate all that God has done for our church this past year. Now, we look forward to what we believe in faith God will accomplish through our church this year. For the month of January, we will be starting a new series talking about the DNA of who we are as a church, why that matters, the ways this affects our daily life, and how it pushes us toward real community in our small groups. We are excited for this new year of growth for Hope Church Mill Creek in Roxboro!

As 2023 ends, we celebrate commitment to Christ. Today, as we get to watch souls start their journey of faith in Christ publicly through baptism, we also get to join them in communion. In this sermon, we discuss what communion is and what it is not. The Way is difficult and treacherous, but The One who walks with us is the Master of the storm.

Jack Faughn from Hope Church Danville delivers a message about the gift of God's mercy. We read through Luke 1: 26-56, 68-75 and discuss how God's mercy is His steadfast love for us. Mercy and grace are blurred in Jesus; He is central to both. Jesus was the object of mercy for us. As Jesus was given to us, we are to give freely what He gave: love, reconciliation, mercy, and the gospel itself.

With the start of the series titled, "A Son is Given," we read through Romans 3: 9-12, 5: 10-17. Celebrating the first coming of Christ is as central to the Christian as celebrating His future return. During this special Christmas season, we are focusing on some of the things given to us by Christ including love, reconciliation, mercy, and the gospel. All of which have been transferred to us by no merit of our own, but by the free gift that is in Jesus. Jesus is the greatest gift ever given. If you have received this invaluable gift, it is now your turn to give this gift to someone else.

Motorcycle Missionary, Jeff Stultz, delivers his testimony of how Jesus changed his life. He uses his look, his lifestyle, and his story to share the gospel with many people regionally, across the country, and beyond. We encourage you to listen to his story and hear how Jesus changes everything.

In the spirit of giving thanks to our God for all of His blessings from above, this week we get to take part in the sacred ritual of Communion. The Lord's Supper brings us to remember the sacrifice of Christ on the cross, repent of any sins we wrestle with, and recommit our lives to Him. We read through 1 Corinthians 11: 17-32 in which Paul gives direction regarding the Lord's Supper, and we also discuss what we do in Communion.

With the end of our series in the book of Philippians, we discuss key verses and themes from each week. We also discuss Paul's closing of the letter in the final two verses of the book. This re-cap of Philippians provides an overview of each week as well as the promise that Jesus Christ changes everything.

As humans, we often try to fill our needs with things that only God can satisfy. We often are discontent with what we have and are concerned about wordly things. In this sermon we read through Philippians 4: 10-20, in which Paul reveals that the secret to plenty, hunger, abundance, and need is Jesus Christ. As Christians when we decide to do something, we need to examine ourselves and ask ourselves these questions: Is what I am doing right? Did I pray about this before I did it? It is in the heart of a Christian to worship, which includes more than worshiping God through song... it also includes giving to others and giving to God.

Two friends, both deteriorative and destructive, the cause of more hatred and despair in the hearts of men than we can count. When they work together, they often show up unannounced and at inconvenient times. Both together and by themselves, they make us look like faithless beings holding on to what is false and fleeting. Their names? None other than Anger and Anxiety. In this sermon of the Philippians series, we read through Philippians 4: 1-9 and discuss how as Christians, we can overcome both anger and anxiety through prayer and trusting in our Lord, Jesus Christ.

The world is falling apart, and the nations are not at peace. There is hunger, poverty, and genocide all over the world. What is right is viewed as wrong and what is wrong is viewed as right. So, why has God left us in this world? What are we supposed to be doing here? How are we to live in a fallen kingdom? What are we supposed to be hungry for? This sermon on Philippians 3: 12-21 attempts to tackle these hard questions.
