Jesus leads his inner circle of three up to a mountaintop for an amazing, unforgettable experience of God's glory - but it's only fleeting. Peter wants to extend the moment - but Jesus sets his face towards Jerusalem, towards the new and greater Exodus that he will lead God's people into.

The disciples reach a crucial crossroads in their journey with Jesus when he challenges them regarding his identity. Peter correctly identifies him as Messiah - and then Jesus sets out what the path of Messiah and of his followers looks like.

Jesus draws his disciples into his mission - calling them from the stands onto the pitch. He sends them out empowered and yet dependent, expecting some will receive his message but others will reject it. Discipleship isn't a spectator sport.

Jesus delivers a man from a legion of demons, showing his power. The demons know one day Jesus will judge and destroy them - but this time they are cast into a herd of pigs. But the townspeople are more concerned for the pigs than the people!

Following Jesus isn't plain sailing - as the disciples discover. We should not expect following Jesus to be all plain sailing - but he is with us in the storm, he cares, and he's able to bring us safe through it.
