Jesus begins to prepare his disciples for his coming death, resurrection, and ascension back to the Father by promising them the Holy Spirit to be with them always. Through Jesus's responses to the disciples' questions, we see how Jesus can leave and yet still be with his disciples, and the incredible hope we have both now and forever.

Jesus's heart was troubled as he told his disciples that one of them would betray him. In the middle of the disciples' uncertainty and fear, we see the knowledge, love, and power of Jesus that can carry each of us through the darkest times when we trust in him.

This week we return to the Gospel of John and spend some time with Jesus and the disciples at the Passover meal before the crucifixion, as Jesus washes the disciples feet.
