Can a stage four cancer diagnosis leave room for a long life filled with purpose and hope? Tracy Case is a 22-year stage four breast cancer survivor, CanCare volunteer, and author of Spoiler Alert: She Lives. Her cancer journey began while she was raising a three-year-old and caring for a newborn. Faced with a prognosis of 18 months to five years, Tracy leaned on faith, family, friends, and a strong support system while moving through years of cancer treatment. As the years passed, Tracy began setting small milestones instead of focusing on an uncertain future. She learned to advocate for herself, seek a second opinion, communicate honestly with her children, and accept help when she needed it. Her experience also shaped how she approached marriage, motherhood, survivorship, and the fear that can remain long after treatment begins. Today, Tracy uses her story to give others the same hope she once needed. Through CanCare and her memoir, she reminds people facing cancer that they don't have to walk alone. Her message is simple: find your people, ask questions, advocate for your care, and keep taking the next step. You may be stronger than you ever imagined. Highlights: · Finding ways to live with uncertainty without letting fear lead every decision · Helping children feel safe through honest, age-appropriate conversations · Knowing when another medical opinion may help you move forward with confidence · Protecting relationships through clearer expectations and open communication · Turning lived experience into meaningful support for someone else Mentioned Resources: CanCare- www.cancare.org Tracy’s Book – https://a.co/d/01rB8MCl About the Guest: Tracy Case is a stage IV breast cancer survivor, marathon runner, and author of Spoiler Alert, She Lives, a memoir about the twenty-plus years she was never supposed to get. What does it mean to find joy after a cancer diagnosis? Not just once treatment ends, but in the middle of the journey, when life feels uncertain, when everything has changed, and when hope feels fragile. In this special episode, we revisit moments from past guests who shared how they rediscovered joy in the most unexpected ways. Through movement, laughter, community, and quiet moments of gratitude, each story is a reminder that joy is not something we wait for. It is something we can choose, create, and reclaim. You will hear reflections from: • Rita Villanueva, a breast cancer survivor who brings love and laughter into every room she enters. • Michael Wiesenthal, who found purpose and strength by supporting others through their cancer journeys. • Stephen Brown, whose guiding principles of movement, service, and positivity carried him through. Their voices are different, but the message is the same: joy often lives in the smallest moments, and it is in those moments that hope begins to grow. Mentioned Resources: CanCare- www.cancare.org About the Guests: Rita Villanueva is a breast cancer survivor whose warmth, humor, and faith shine through everything she does. She brings joy and encouragement to others walking the cancer journey, reminding them that life can still be full of love, laughter, and purpose. His journey from patient to supporter reflects his belief that healing happens through connection, purpose, and showing up for others. Stephen Brown is a 19-year chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) survivor and Ironman competitor. In this episode, Greg speaks candidly about fear, isolation, brain fog, and the disorienting question of how to tell the people you love that your life has just changed. He also opens up about the often unspoken reality of facing fertility decisions during treatment, and what it means to carry both hope and uncertainty at the same time. Bu this isn’t just a story of disruption. It’s one of rising. Of finding purpose in chaos. Today, Greg is not only a survivor but an advocate. Some seasons remind us just how much hope is out there. In this solo episode, Darcie reflects on the extraordinary ripple effect of National Cancer Survivors Month. A month spent celebrating survivorship, resilience, and the stories that continue to move us. From hospital book drops to raw conversations, from quiet acts of courage to public gatherings, this month became a living portrait of what it means to show up for one another. With the help of our partners and the hearts of our volunteers, hope found its way into waiting rooms, comuninity events, and hospital corridors all across the country. Darcie shares the in-between moments: the breakthroughs, the unexpected grace, the stories handed over in trust, and what they reveal about how far a simple act of presence can reach. It’s a reflection on the depth beneath the surface. And an invitation to see what this month stirred in all of us. If you’ve been following along, or even if you’re just finding us now, this is the episode that ties it all together. Mentioned Resources: CanCare- www.cancare.org Love the podcast?
