What the heck is Mirror work?!? When I first heard of it I thought it was really dumb. Mirror work can be a tool used to help in the healing process.
Here is an excerpt from "Rising from the Ashes" (you can find my book here- https://amzn.to/3fsxe88) of how Mirror work helped me on my journey. I hope it helps you even if you're not in an abusive situation this can be a powerful tool. Now, you don't have to say "I love you" perhaps for you, it's to congratulate yourself for brushing your hair, or to say that you are beautiful. Whatever that looks like for you do that unashamed. You may need to step away for a bit or feel as I did when I started. If you stop doing it for a day or week or even a month that's okay. Allow yourself space and nurture yourself. Come back to this when you feel ready.

My next challenge was to look myself in the mirror and tell myself that I loved myself while looking directly into my eyes.
Yes, seriously! How hard can that be right?
It’s harder than you think...
Despite my misgivings, I tried it again a few days later. I still couldn’t look in my eyes. I felt silly.
Finally, I found the courage to look into my eyes and tell myself those three little words-
“I love you.”
The first time I did that I cried.
Once I started I couldn’t stop saying it. I hugged myself and felt gleeful at the same time. I felt a surge of strength when I said those words.
Are you able to say those three little words?
Someone out there needs to know they are not alone and that they can survive. Perhaps you are a parent or friend of someone trapped in an abusive relationship and need to know how to help. Message me privately for support or help. My goal is to share awareness, offer empowerment, and educate others about emotional traumas and domestic abuse.
This is the first of many episodes to come where I will share my story but also stories of courage and healing from Survivors, Coaches, to Therapists/Counselors.
