A message from Felina: This is my brave face. No makeup, no filters, no bullshit. Because today I’m in an immense amount of pain due to a fibromyalgia flare up. If you look behind that smile, you’ll see dark, heavyset bags under my eyes, swollen cheeks, and a hint of pain in that smile. My evening consists of detox tea, massage machines, hot epsom salt baths, alternating hot packs and ice packs... in hopes of gaining some relief from painful, swollen joints, burning hot inflammation in my kidney’s, up my spine, the huge knots literally all over my body that are presently causing my left arm to go numb, and the tension headache caused by the muscles in my neck that have become rock hard. Tomorrow, I will go to work, and put on my brave face again. I’ll add some makeup to hide the dark circles, and suck it up as I persevere. Because I have to. Anyone who suffers from #fibro and is working their ass off to continue to thriving has to. I know a lot of other #singlemoms who deal with this auto-immune issue are suffering too. In fact, millions of women deal with #chronicpain every single day and put on their brave face. They wear their brave face to show their boss how strong they are, to provide for their families, to create more opportunities, to spend time with friends and family, to have a life. Along the way, some succumb to addiction to pain pills. Such was the fate of my deceased mother. I am choosing a different path. It’s still painful, but we are all doing what we think is best, hiding our pain behind our smiles, our under-eye creams, and lipstick. We are all putting on a brave face. Over the next few weeks, I will be sharing my personal story with chronic pain and fibromyalgia. As well as recapping my mother’s battle with chronic pain due to #rheumatoidarthritis #lupus and #fibromyalgia issues and her addiction that ultimately took her life. I am asking for your input. If you have dealt with any of these issues, send us your #braveface and we’ll contact you. We’d love to include your story on this topic in this series.
