Horizon Heart to Heart

Colleen Babcock connected with Horizon when her son started to come to us for support and treatment. She set up a meeting with Horizon’s CEO and proposed her position of Parent and Family Support Coordinator. After experiencing the treatment system as a parent, she felt like it was vital to have a person on staff who solely works with parents, families, friends and community members who are navigating the treatment system and trying to educate themselves on next steps. Colleen meets and speaks with families and loved ones of patients who are in different stages of navigating treatment. She provides education, awareness and support around substance use. Her role allows her to be a constant resource for families to call when they have questions, need support or are seeking information or treatment for a loved one.

Horizon Health Services provides a wide array of services for women across the lifespan, and we have specially trained staff to support women preparing for and entering motherhood. In this episode, we discuss recognizing and understanding the signs of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, available treatment options, resources for partners and other supports, and common barriers we see that can make it more difficult for women to reach out for help.

Horizon Village is a residential facility within Horizon that is a higher level of care for those in need of long term services. Horizon provides many levels of treatment along with hope and education to not only those struggling with addiction but the families and loved ones alongside them.
