Joseph was the eleventh of twelve sons born to Jacob, the grandson of Abraham, and his relationship with his older brothers was difficult. In the stories given in Genesis and in this sermon series, we see how God used the difficulties in Joseph's life served to increase his faith, and how his faith positively impacted his family and their descendants. Thank you for joining us for this week's message! Today's message is the third and final one in a series of messages on spiritual transformation. In this message, Pastor Chris teaches us that the two "producers" of spiritual formation are the human soul and the Holy Spirit. In the earlier messages, we saw how our heart and our character produce our actions. We add to this model four dimensions of influence on our heart: our bodies, social environments, thoughts, and feelings. Our souls are what binds our spiritual lives together, integrating the dimensions of our lives so we grow more like Christ. But our souls cannot produce this growth without the Holy Spirit in us. It is this union of our souls with the Spirit that continually produce new life in us.

For Horizon West Church, this spiritual formation in our members has allowed God to change lives in our community and to draw people into closer relationships with God and each other. As God continues to lead us, there are exciting times ahead of us, with the planned construction of a permanent church home. Watch for a Response Sunday in late October when we will commit to God's plan for this building project!

When any of us grow "comfortable" in our faith, we are at risk of feeling the resentments expressed by the older so, so we need to remind ourselves of the forgiveness we receive continually from our Father so we can give that same kind of forgiveness to others. We cultivate this heart of forgiveness when we enjoy the Father's resources, when we envision the Father's plan, and when we embrace the Father's heart.
