"Kate Rules" month starts now where our wonderful Patreon member has taken over! Not gonna lie she has kicked things off with a banger as we dive into Paris Hilton's second most popular film House Of Wax!
This episode is packed with a review of this super underappreciated slasher, film facts, voicemails from listeners and the game that none of you seem to be able to crack.
Not to mention a tone of laughter and something that filled me and Marc with nostalgia.
Following the surprise hit Talk To Me the Philippou Brothers return with their latest and most terrifying horror flick.
This film takes a very different tone to their first outing opting for a darker much more emotional narrative that honestly cerates a huge amount of tension and anxiety while watching.
We follow Piper and Andy as they find them selves living with a suburban necromancer foster mum after the death of their father and as you would expect things go sideways quickly.
As always this is a super balance review as me and Marc were unable to find common ground on this, we also have your views thrown into the mix for good measure.

We'll be discussing the film's gritty, serious tone, the shocking (and brilliant) twist on the classic "damsel in distress" trope, and of course, the heart-pounding final act. And let's be real - we HAVE to talk about Jane Levy's legendary performance as Mia. We're calling it now: she's one of the most badass and ultimate final girls in horror history.
SPOILER WARNING: We'll be discussing plot points, including Mia's harrowing journey from addiction to ultimate survival and her unforgettable battle against the demonic forces.
Join the conversation in the comments below! What did you think of Evil Dead (2013)? Do you agree that Mia is a top-tier final girl? Let us know your thoughts!
This week, we're delving into the dark and disturbing world of The Last House on the Left (2009), the controversial remake of Wes Craven's infamous 1972 exploitation classic. The film follows Mari Collingwood, a teenager who, after a chance encounter with a group of dangerous fugitives led by the menacing Krug, finds herself subjected to a horrific ordeal. When these same criminals unknowingly seek refuge at her parents' isolated lake house, her mother and father soon discover the truth and unleash their own brutal brand of vengeance.
Join Marc & I as we break down the film's unflinching violence, explore its potent themes of revenge and justice, and discuss whether this modern re-imagining successfully delivers on its promise of terror. We'll be dissecting how the 2009 version compares to the original, the intense performances that grounded the horror, and the uncomfortable questions the film raises about morality and how far one would go to protect their family. Our discussion will also explore the effectiveness of its graphic violence โ is it gratuitous or essential to the narrative?
Trigger Warning: Due to the graphic nature of the themes discussed, including sexual assault and extreme violence, listener discretion is strongly advised for this episode.
Tune in for a chilling and thought-provoking discussion that might just make you lock your doors.
Join The Horror Movie Maniacs Grant and Ben as they team with Marc to ruthlessly shatter Scott's cherished childhood memories of the beloved Jim Henson classic, Labyrinth!
For decades, Scott has clung to the notion that the 1986 fantasy epic is a beacon of pure, innocent magic, a whimsical adventure filled with catchy songs and memorable creatures. But prepare yourselves, because Grant and Ben are here to expose the truly unsettling, often predatory darker undertones lurking just beneath the film's enchanting surface.
In this eye-opening episode, we're not just re-watching Labyrinth; we're dissecting it with an adult, and perhaps slightly twisted, lens. The conversation kicks off by meticulously examining Jareth, the Goblin King, portrayed with iconic flair by David Bowie. While many remember him as a flamboyant, enigmatic rock star villain, Grant and Ben argue his true nature is far more sinister. They'll delve into his unsettling obsession with the 15-year-old Sarah, peeling back the layers of his manipulative charm to reveal a deeply possessive, almost predatory desire. Is Jareth merely trying to trick Sarah into staying, or is he actively trying to claim her, to make her his queen, bound forever to his labyrinthine domain? The hosts will dissect pivotal scenes like the "Magic Dance" and the infamous "As the World Falls Down" ballroom sequence, revealing how these visually stunning moments actually serve as potent metaphors for manipulation and psychological entrapment.

This week we are diving back into the world of M3GAN, Gemma and Cady as a new threat in the form of AI super robot Amelia emerges...
Now I am sure you are expecting us to sway in opposite ways on this movie but I guarantee not in the way you think. Mr "it's not horror, this isn't what I signed up for" loved this while Mr "its horror adjacent" is left regretting the decision to cover this.
This episode is packed with fun, interactive features and a small amount of arguing!
This week, we're diving headfirst into a true 80s cult classic that has sparked some serious debate behind the scenes: Paul Verhoeven's RoboCop (1987)!
Join us as we break down this gritty, satirical sci-fi action film set in a near-future, crime-ridden Detroit. The plot follows the brutal murder of honest police officer Alex Murphy, who is then resurrected by the Omni Consumer Products (OCP) corporation as RoboCop, a cyborg law enforcer. As RoboCop dispenses justice with extreme prejudice, fragments of his past life begin to haunt him, leading him on a path of revenge against those who took his humanity.
Expect our usual deep dive into the film's themes, iconic moments, and its lasting legacy. However, we have to address the elephant in the room: our very own Marc is adamant that this movie does not qualify to be featured on our show, arguing that it's simply not a horror movie. Is he right? Or does the sheer body horror, dystopian dread, and visceral violence push RoboCop into a genre it might not initially claim? Tune in to hear our full discussion and decide for yourself!
Get ready for a trip down memory lane that's funnier than it has any right to be! In this episode, we're diving deep into the absolute comedic chaos that is Scary Movie (2000). More than just a horror parody, this film is a vibrant, hilarious time capsule, perfectly encapsulating the late 90s and early 2000s humor, pop culture, and cinematic landscape.
From its relentless send-ups of iconic horror flicks like Scream, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and even The Matrix, to its rapid-fire gags referencing everything from "Whassup?!" to The Sixth Sense, Scary Movie is a masterclass in turn-of-the-millennium satire. We'll be breaking down what made this movie such a massive hit, why its humour still largely holds up (with a few cringe-worthy exceptions, of course!), and how it perfectly reflects the era it was made in.
Join us as we revisit the iconic characters, the unforgettable spoofs, and the sheer audacity of a film that dared to be so ridiculously funny. Whether you're a long-time fan or curious about the origins of modern parody films, this review will have you laughing and reminiscing about a truly unique period in cinematic comedy.
๐ป๐ Get ready for some seriously unhinged fun! In this episode, we're diving headfirst into the delightfully campy French horror-comedy, Poltergay (2006).
Join us as we dissect the plot โ three friends buy a haunted disco, only to discover the ghosts are all fabulous gay men who died in a foam machine incident in the 60s, and now they need help finding peace!
We're joined by two incredible guests: Jim from Jim's Retro Emporium and Jay from The Girl and The Gay Podcast.
Fair warning: this episode goes completely off the rails from start to finish and is laugh-out-loud funny. You won't want to miss it! #Poltergay
