Your attitude determines so much about your life.   A bad one can literally block love, blessings and destiny from finding you. With a bad attitude you find a problem with every solution. So you stay stuck.

A good attitude can cause a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events, and outcomes. It changes the way you respond and behave, therefore opening the door for solutions, acceptance and happiness.

You cannot control every situation and its outcome, but you can control your attitude and how you deal with it. Problems are a part of life but your attitude is the little thing that makes a big difference in how you respond to them.

Morning Mantra: “Life is too short to waste time.” 

One of the biggest mistakes people make is to think they have time.  Ask anyone that is a bit older and they will tell you how fast their life has gone by.  It seems like I blink my eyes and another year has past.   So don't waste time.

If you made a mistake, apologize. 
If you are thankful, say it. 
If you are confused, ask questions. 
If you learn something, teach it. 
If you are stuck, ask for help. 
If you are wrong, admit it. 
If you can give, give.
If you miss someone, call them. 
And if you love someone, tell them, now.

Life is too short to let your pride, ego, shame, fear, or pain stand in your way.

There is a difference between be liked and being valued. You can like someone and not value them. You can also value someone and not particularly like them.

If you want to find people who truly value you then you have to be yourself. Every imperfection, every past mistake, every awkward moment. Everything.

Show them who you REALLY are. Don't be liked OR valued for being fake. Because if you want an authentic relationship they have to really know you and what you bring.

You'll be too much for some and not enough for others, but you'll be just right for many. It's OK if it's not a big crowd. I'd rather have a small circle of true friends that value me than a larger circle because I am faking it.

Morning Mantra: “Today I will focus on the good news in life.”

If we depend on the news headline for our view of the world it can be quite upsetting and discouraging.  There is a saying in the media, “If it bleeds it leads.” And when you read the news these days it’s easy to see that they believe this.

I’d rather not let them tell me how to view the world, how people are treating each other, and what the future of humanity is.  Today I will write my own headlines from my own life:

Husband surprises wife with birthday party.
Mother weeps at the birth of her beautiful child.
Teenager teaches younger brother to play the guitar.
Entire community cleans up playground.
96 year old gets taken care of and adored by daughter.
Dog reunited with owners.
Horse recovers from neurological disease.

Everyone has inside them a piece of good news, so find the good news and let it fill your headlines. Let your worries about the state of our world float away on the promise that life is more good than bad, that more people are amazing and kind than cruel, and that everything will be okay.

Many times we distract ourselves from the things that need fixing in our own life by trying to fix what we think is wrong in others.  Focus on your own life and you will be busy enough.

As long as they are not hurting anyone or anything, let people do what they need to do to make themselves happy.  How would you feel if every time you did something other people were telling you that you shouldn't? That you are messed up and need fixing.

Train yourself to see the good in others.  Look at them- even if it isn't what you'd do, what you'd wear, or how you would act and see a happy person.  In the same way you would like others to look at you and your life.  

Speaking of your life, what is it that you need to work on in order to not try and fixate others? What does their happiness trigger in you? And why?

Don’t concern yourself with things that don’t concern you. If it’s not your business why make it your burden?

Accepting life as it can be difficult at times.  What screws us up the most is the picture in our head of how it’s supposed to be.  But reality requires us to accept some things as they are, even if it’s not how we think they should be.  The quicker you can do that, the happier you'll be.

Tires will go flat, people will disrespect you, and things will happen for no logical reason. Of course these things won't make you happy, but it is what it is.  Your attitude about it is what will make the difference.  Resistance to what is = frustration, anger, resentment, sadness and unhappiness.

Life is a series of solving one problem after another.  Whether it's the small, easy one like what you'll have for lunch, or a big one like a health issue.  Life is very complex.

But remember, you've made it this far.  You've solved all the problems, answered all the questions, survived all the drama.  Take a deep breath, smile, and know that all is well because you have the strength to handle it.

Unfortunately, things are very tense and emotional right now. People are arguing over things just to release their anxiety.  If you’re feeling highly emotional, try another route.

Remind yourself that if nothing you can say or do will change the outcome, then you don't compound things with senseless battles.  Save your emotional energy for joy, gratitude, love and happiness.

Reduce your stress with a nice walk, a trail ride, a run, some yoga, meditation, prayer, or playing with your kids and animals.  Focus on the here and now and don't get caught up in the "what ifs" or the "should haves".

When I think of protecting my energy I feel it is simply protecting my space; what goes in and out of my ears, what I allow my eyes to see and read, who I choose to hang out with and what I allow to influence me.
