Morning Mantra: “It is what it is.”
I must have said this 10 times this past weekend. I did a show with my mobile unit and sales were not great. I had to accept the fact that the goal I set was not going to be met.
It is what it is can be one of the most difficult concepts to wrap your head around, because we tend to see things as we WANT them to be, not as they are.
If a situation, relationship, or problem can be changed, then by all means, work on it. If it can’t, then you must learn to accept it, As. It. Is.
When you focus on what IS NOT, then you remove the opportunity for gratitude. Being grateful for what you already have, like the sales I WAS making and how beautiful the weather was, often attracts more of what you want. Focusing on how it's NOT puts you in a negative head space and lowers your ability to see things clearly. It also makes you feel bad.
Accepting things/people as they are doesn’t mean you’ve given up, it means you’ve learned to let go of things you can’t control. Nothing I could have done would have changed the fact that there were fewer people at the show than expected and those that were there just weren't buying what I was selling.
It is what it is, not what it should be, not what it could have been. And that's OK.
