While the horse racing industry is a vital economic engine for Florida and other horse states, its survival is on the line. The Florida House Subcommittee has advanced a decoupling bill that threatens the sport's survival. 

American thoroughbred horse trainer Jena Antonucci explains that decoupling will allow casinos to operate independently outside of horse racing. She notes that if Florida succeeds in decoupling, it will set a dangerous precedent for other states, potentially leading to the decline of the entire industry
