This week I have the honor of visiting with a friend who has had a profound effect on my horsemanship journey Mr Jack McComber. Jack had a very successful career as a professional trainer of cutting and reined cow horses. He has competed in the National Reined cow horse futurity making the finals multiple times. He has also competed in at the NCHA Championship Futurity in Ft Worth. He and his wife Sylvia are spending their time these days developing a and enjoying great cow horses at their ranch in Colorado.
This week I have the privilege of interviewing a longtime friend and equine expert Ms. Toni Bucciero. Toni has spent many years practicing and developing the "art" of helping horses feel better. Whenever I get the slightest notion that my horses are not feeling 100% I give her a call and set up an appointment. She uses multiple techniques and methods of making adjustments to a horses body resulting in better mobility and comfort. I don't exactly know how she does this I call it "Magical"
Chubby has been referred to as the ambassador of cutting. With more than 40 years of experience in just about every aspect of the cutting horse industry, Chubby brings a vast knowledge and history of cutting to the sport.
With over $2.5 million in rider earnings, Chubby was the 2014 & 2013 NCHA Open World Champion on One Time Choice and also the 2004 NCHA Open World Champion on Flickacat. Chubby has also had a successful aged-event career, including two NCHA Super Stakes Championship titles.
Chubby is a NCHA life time member and currently serves as an at large director for North Texas. He also served as NCHA President for the 2009-2010 term and was instrumental in the sponsorship of Mercuria for the NCHA World Finals and World Series of Cutting. He was inducted into the NCHA Members Hall of Fame at the 2015 NCHA Convention.
Larry Rose is the trainer of more World Champion reining horses than anyone in N.R.H.A. history and his name is synonymous with the word "champion." His list of accomplishments include being an Open N.R.H.A. Futurity All Time Top 10 Money Earner, N.R.H.A. Derby All Time Top 5 Money Earner, and N.R.H.A. Top 10 All time Open Rider.
This week I have the pleasure of visiting with Mr. Al Dunning. One of the most respected horsemen in the industry, Al has received multiple honors including American Quarter Horse Association’s Professional Horseman of the Year in 1996, NCHA’s Zane Schulte Trainer of the Year award in 2003, Monte Roberts Equitarian award in 2004, Western Horseman Magazine’s Western Horseman Award in 2017. Al is an EquiStat Elite Million Dollar Winner and an NCHA Million Dollar Rider. He was inducted in to the Arizona Quarter Horse Association’s Hall of Fame in 2016. In addition, he trained and showed the great buckskin performance horse Expensive Hobby, who was inducted into the AQHA Hall of Fame in 2007 and the AZQHA Hall of Fame in 2016. Al and his students have garnered 48 World and Reserve World titles in NCHA, AQHA, NRCHA, and NRHA.
This week I have the pleasure of visiting with Ms. Jann Parker, Jann is the manager of Billings Livestock Commission horse sale which is the oldest horse market in Montana, having started in 1934. They are a consignment auction, hosting monthly catalog horse sales. So, if you'd like to sell your daughter's pony, you can consign the pony to them, and then they will market it for you. She is the manager of the largest monthly catalog horse sale in America. Jann is also an active competitor in the sport of cutting, She produces cuttings, shows cutting horses at the very highest level and is a very talented horsewoman in her own right. I know you will enjoy her wisdom!
This week I discuss things to consider when selling your horse, what you need to do, what are the best places to market your animal, and how to determine what you should price your horse at.
This week I am honored to be able to visit with Mr. Richard Jordan! Horses that have gone through his program include an NCHA Futurity Champion, NCHA Horse of the Year, dozens and dozens of championships at all ages, and millions and millions of dollars won. He and his business associate Todd Nelson have consistently turned out some of the very best two-year-old cutting horse prospects in the world. Oh, and by the way Richard has plenty of cutting championships he has won on horses he has trained as well.
Craig is a first generation horseman from Cornville, Arizona. He started riding as at thirteen years old and competed in high school and college rodeo. He then went on to work for a couple of horse trainers and found a passion for working with horses and personal development. Craig has successfully competed in roping events, obstacle challenges, and Extreme Mustang Makeover events. He was a 2021 Wildcard for Road To The Horse and while he didn’t gain a title from that, he did gain many new fans and friends from the experience. Craig currently lives in May, Texas and trains client horses with his wife Katie. They enjoy training horses and attending competitions. One weekend they might be team roping and the next weekend they might be at a Ranch Horse show or performing a freestyle act with their mustangs. They enjoy helping horses and people as much as they possibly can.
