Jan got her first judge's card (NRHA) in 1998 and hasn't slowed down since. She now holds AQHA, NRCHA, and a long list of breed and stock horse association cards, and she judges a whole lot of ranch horse classes across the country from her home base in San Angelo, Texas.

This week we sit down with John Silva of 2Rank 2Ride — a 30-year professional bulldogger turned Mustang trainer out of Wyoming who's built a whole brand (and a wildly entertaining TikTok following) out of taking wild BLM Mustangs and turning them into tough, versatile using horses.

Six words from a past guest just rearranged my whole brain, and I couldn't NOT make an episode about it. Charlotte Volt said something so simple during our anniversary recap that I haven't stopped thinking about since: "That is the cost of a wonderful life."

One year ago, Charlotte Vault of Colorado Horse Sale was Crystal's very first podcast guest. A lot has changed since then — for both of them.

In this episode of Horses, Hope & Hustle, we sit down with Olivia Allen — wife, mom, and reining horse trainer out of Oklahoma — for one of the most honest conversations we've had on the podcast.

Olivia opens up about growing up without the means to afford nice horses, working her way up cleaning stalls and riding other people's colts, and eventually building her own reining horse program from literally a gutted chicken coop. But behind the hustle was a private battle with an eating disorder that started in high school and spiraled during a season of isolation, anxiety, and a global pandemic — a battle she candidly shares brought her to her lowest point.

Olivia shares how a simple question to her now-husband on a drive home from church — "Do you think I'm good?" — led to her baptism that same night, and how surrendering her life to the Lord became the turning point that carried her out of years of struggle. She's now been free from her eating disorder for nearly five years, and shares openly about rebuilding her faith, her marriage, and a training program that's grown from a backyard round pen to a full-scale facility — all while raising her daughter alongside her husband in the barn.

This episode is a raw, faith-filled reminder that no one is too far gone, no one is alone, and God can take a shell of a person and do more than she ever imagined.
