Did you know in the 14th century during the black plague, many parts of Europe killed off dang near all of their cat and dog population? The belief was that since these animals carried fleas they had to be the source of the plague, and black cats have always been surrounded by superstitious weirdness. Ironically, this made the spread of the disease much worse, since the humans took away the natural predator of rats, which were the actual carriers of the plague, LOL am I right?
