Steffon Darklyn, learning he has Targaryen ancestry, attempts to claim Seasmoke, who incinerates him. Daemon dreams about his brother, Viserys, and he doubts Simon Strong's loyalty. Aemond orders Larys to summon Otto Hightower to court. Aegon, slowly recovering, tells Aemond he has no memory of the battle. Gwayne assures Alicent that her youngest son, Daeron, is kind, unlike his brothers. Corlys appoints Alyn as first mate of his flagship. Alyn's brother, Addam, is later pursued by Seasmoke. Mysaria's spies spread rumors that the royals live lavishly while the smallfolk starve. Mysaria sends Targaryen-bannered food-laden boats to King's Landing, winning the people's open praise for Rhaenyra; Alicent and Helaena nearly die in a riot. Mysaria tells Rhaenyra that she was raped by her father as a child, and why she remains loyal; they passionately kiss. Upon hearing that Seasmoke has a new rider, Rhaenyra leaves on Syrax to confront them.
