Happy May, y'all! On this episode we discuss the celebrity drama on everyone's lips these days: Jay Cutler and Kristin Cavallari's divorce. How does this relate to real estate, you ask? The former NFL quarterback and his soon-to-be ex-wife have been trying to sell their nearly $5 million Nashville home for two years but nary a buyer has come forth. That brings up a whole mess of questions like: will this divorce news stir up interest in the home? Who will bank the money if the house does sell? What's going to happen to their other large property in Nashville?

This week we decided to take a walk down memory lane and rewatch the very first episode of "Fixer Upper" the iconic HGTV show that made Chip and Joanna Gaines household names. The decor was ... questionable at best. But we also had some realizations about what was probably happening behind the scenes. Were the houses pre-selected? Was the homeowners' "all-in budget" only a fraction of the money that actually went into the renovation? We talk all about it on this week's episode of "House Party."

For those of us fortunate enough to still be collecting a paycheck, being in quarantine might seem like an optimal time to save some dough. After all, we’re not commuting, or dropping wads of cash at restaurants or on exotic vacations.
But as some spending areas decrease during self-isolation, others can creep up. None of us planned for the increased utility bills from staying home all day, or the extra fees and tips that come with getting everything delivered.
How can you make smart financial decisions in the middle of a pandemic? This week we had the opportunity to talk with Bola Sokunbi, host of the “Clever Girls Know” podcast, about how to budget during this time—whether you’re just trying to keep your monthly costs in check or you’re saving for something big, like a home.
Tune in to hear our conversation.

Ever since we've been self-quarantining, we've noticed a few changes at home—namely in the appliances we're using. More cooking has caused us to run the dishwasher more often. Surprisingly, Erik has used his washing machine less. And Rachel has discovered the wonders of her combo toaster oven-air fryer. It's interesting what staying indoors full-time will teach you about your space.
Speaking of interior spaces, we explore how COVID-19 and sheltering in place is heralding the end of minimalist design. Because, right now, no one wants to live in a home that feels cold, stark, and uncomfortable.

For a while we've been wondering what it would be like to live inside the same home with someone who has COVID-19. What type of precautions would you have to take to make sure your family or roommates don’t get sick? How does your cleaning regimen change? And what type of effect does it have on your life going forward?
This week we had the opportunity to talk to Amy and Tony Mogck of Manitou Springs, CO. Amy is presumed COVID-19 positive. And her family, which includes the couple’s 8-year-old son, have been quarantined inside their home, for over two weeks.

Your favorite podcast hosts are practicing social distancing, so we wanted to share how we're passing the time while working from home. We found three potential Florida homes for Tom Brady and Giselle now that the Super Bowl champ has decided to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Plus, Shel Silverstein's houseboat is for sale. And we were shocked at how classy Ed Hardy designer Christian Audigier's LA home is. And, as always, this week's celebrity winner and loser.

As many of us (including your favorite podcasters!) practice social distancing, Coronavirus is top of mind. And because buying and selling a house is such a contact sport, we couldn't help but wonder how the house hunting process has changed since we've been told to stay at home and limit our social interactions. To get the scoop, we spoke to a real estate agent and our fellow editor at realtor.com, Judy Dutton.
And we balance our coronavirus coverage with some juicy celebrity home stories: how the Duggar family sold their massive Arkansas flip, and why it took so long for Adam Lambert's bachelor pad to sell. Plus, this week's celebrity real estate winners and losers.

This week, Erik got a real life text from a random person wanting to buy his house. Did it work or was it over the line? Dr. Phil's bizarre LA home was purchased by a socialite who is planning on gifting the house to her son, a twenty-something "cannabis aficionado" with a $500,000 collection of ... glassware. We discuss a home with the strangest open bathroom situation we've ever seen. Also, a discussion on prepping for Coronavirus and some tips on how to store all those extra supplies. And we look inside a former church in Wisconsin for sale; it's a major fixer upper with a lot of potential. Plus, this week's celebrity real estate winner and loser.

Are Meghan and Harry moving to this unexpected city? We go inside the house the formerly royal couple are supposedly eyeing. We also discuss how America is undoubtedly losing the toilet race, bad omens that could curse your home, and how one man's Michigan house takes collecting and fandom to an extreme level. Plus, this week's celebrity winners and losers.

Bed Bath and Beyond has announced they're decluttering their stores, but that still won't be enough for Rachel and Erik to start shopping there. Jon Bon Jovi's French Chateau-style (?) home is on the market for an undisclosed price. Is this tactic genius or annoying? A San Diego condo is bursting with colorful, and pristine, '70s decor. Would you buy this time capsule home for the modest price of $375,000? We have mixed feelings.
