This is Stick Ah Pin®. Three times a season the main arc stops and we put a stake in the ground on Caribbean language and where it came from.
Sweet mouth was never only charm. It was communication of persuasion or attraction built by people who had very little else to work with. It moved goods. It settled disputes. It held rooms. Every culture has a name for it. This is ours. And somewhere along the way that same skill got studied, packaged, and sold back to us as marketing.
So the question this episode sits with is who benefits when we get sweet mouthed. And by whom.

Most people hear pivot and think something went wrong. Andrea Wade thinks that's backwards.

Today's word is PIVOT. Not as a crisis, not as a retreat. As a design.

Andrea Wade is the founder of The Pivot Lab, where she helps experienced professionals navigate career transitions with confidence. Deloitte. Arthur Andersen. Mattel. Bank of America. Years as an agent at Creative Artists Agency before she built her own. Her path has never been straight, and that is the point.

We get into why a layoff feels like rejection when it usually has nothing to do with you. Why the outside world has no idea what your title means. What Andrea calls career insurance, and why you build it before you need it. Her four-part framework: reflect, research, reframe, relaunch. And the line that stopped the whole conversation, which is that you cannot be creative and dream if you are exhausted.

Most of us never chose the life we're living. We absorbed it.

Season 4 of How Do You Divine? opens with the word DESIGNED. Not designed as in planned, mapped out, rigid. Designed as in responsive. Intention and flexibility at the same time.

In this episode I get honest about my own drift. Season 3 grew. My interviewing got sharper. The systems got better. More stories went out into the world. And somewhere in that growth I lost the heart of the show. Technically better. Soulfully thin. That was the drift.

So we look at how drifting actually happens. Not as a dramatic wrong turn. The slow kind. In work. In motherhood. In the relationships where we stay present physically and quietly moonwalk out emotionally.

This week's Divine Assignment: find one area where you've been drifting. Write it down. Pen to paper, not your phone. Then review it before you design what that version should look like.
