    Title: The Skeleton Cupboard
Subtitle: The Making of a Clinical Psychologist
    Author: Tanya Byron
    Narrator: Imogen Church
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 9 hrs and 25 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 04-07-15
    Publisher: HarperCollins Publishers Ltd
Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 1 votes
Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Personal Memoirs
    Publisher's Summary:
In my session with Imogen, the words were still not coming. I had to move past my own frustration and relax. But it is very hard to relax when you are looking into the eyes of a mute little girl who wants to be dead. You don't want to relax; you want to pull her into your arms, hold her, and then shake her until she tells you why. You long to say, "Why do you want to die? You're twelve years old."
Gripping, unforgettable, and deeply affecting, The Skeleton Cupboard recounts the patient stories that most influenced Dr. Tanya Byron, covering years of training that forced her to confront the harsh realities of the lives of her patients and the demons of her own family history. Among others we meet Ray, a violent sociopath desperate to be treated with tenderness and compassion; Mollie, a talented teenager intent on starving herself; and Imogen, a 12-year-old so haunted by a secret that she's intent on killing herself.
Byron brings the reader along as she uncovers the reasons all of these individuals behave as they do, resulting in a thrilling, compulsively listenable medical mystery that sheds light on mental illness and what its treatment tells us about ourselves.

    Best Book I've Ever Read!
What an incredible book! So insightful. It really shines a much needed light on mental health, and offers a new way to look at those who struggle with it, and even a new way to look at ourselves. Absolutely fascinating. The narrator was fantastic also, giving so much life to the characters. I really feel that five stars is an understatement!

    Underwhelming, at best.
This book was given to me by a friend, knowing that I speak fluent German, and all I can say is, I'm glad I didn't have to cough up any money for it. This author, according to a Luxembourg publication, is now said to be involved in a lover's scandal with a married man. Setting that aside, don't waste your money or your time....it is definitely not worth it.

Nearly all of the chapters contain details about each woman's love life as well
A very informative and well-written account of the lives of key female figures - composers, writers and also performers - of the Weimar era. Nearly all of the chapters contain details about each woman's love life as well, which usually amounted to affairs with and marriages to men who were identified and named in the book. Shocking is the omission of any mention that the great artist Claire Waldoff lived her life openly as a lesbian and shared her home with her life-long partner Olga "Olly" von Roeder. Why did this writer choose to hide the truth about Waldoff? If her intention was to shine light on "Die Frau im Dunkeln" (the woman in the dark) - why leave out such an important fact?

Title: Joe's Fruit Shop & Milk Bar
    Author: Zoe Boccabella
    Narrator: Daniela Farinacci
    Format: Unabridged
Length: 15 hrs and 8 mins
    Language: English
    Release date: 02-12-15
    Publisher: Bolinda Publishing Pty Ltd
Genres: Bios & Memoirs, Personal Memoirs
    Publisher's Summary:
Leaving the small village of Fossa in Italy in 1939 to meet a father he barely remembered in a place that was far from everything he knew, 15-year-old Annibale Boccabella arrived in Australia determined to make a go of it. It was a time when everything was changing, and anything seemed possible. Life was tough, but you could still chase your dreams.
More than 70 years later, in 2011, Zoe Boccabella and her family hurriedly try to save the treasured belongings of Annibale and his wife, Francesca - Zoe's grandparents - from the rising waters of the Brisbane River. When Zoe sees the sign from their old fruit shop and milk bar about to disappear beneath the floodwater, this triggers in her a realisation that while she has long looked to Italy to discover her migrant heritage, much of it happened here in Australia.
In Joe's Fruit Shop & Milk Bar, Zoe artfully weaves her own experiences with those of her grandparents, taking us on a journey from Abruzzo and Calabria in Italy to Australian sugar cane fields, internment camps, Greek cafes, and the fruit shop and milk bar that was the focus of a family's hopes and dreams for the future.
With memorable, beautifully portrayed characters, evocative writing, and a sweeping tale that reflects the experience of so many Australians, this is a story that will touch your heart and remind you of the important things in life.
    Critic Reviews:
"A charming and thoughtful writer." (Frances Mayes)

    An Inspiring Family
Hoping that this and Zoe Boccabella's other book, Mezza Italiana, will be published in the U.S.
I read the Kindle edition of "Joe's Fruit Shop and Milk Bar" and listened to "Mezza Italiana." Both are beautifully written and will touch the heart of anyone with an immigrant ancestor. (Most of us.....?) They are also well researched and informative. Highly recommend.
    another beautiful book by Zoe
Zoe writes beautifully. Her research is impeccable and I feel like Nonna Francesa and Nonno Anni are almost like my family. What they went through, the long separations the families endured yet their commitment to family and their hard work is inspiring. Their interment and the racist treatment the men suffered is awful. Heartwarming, educational and moving. Loved this story
There is so much information about Italy and Australia that I had never heard of before reading this beautifully written family
This is one of those books you really do not want to end. There is so much information about Italy and Australia that I had never heard of before reading this beautifully written family history. A truly inspiring story of immigrants who helped build a country.

Lydia Guirous a 29 ans.

Great read from a great person
I purchased this book because the author is head of our department and I told him I would read it. From the first page it had me captivated . I purchased this book at 1pm and finished it in 4 hours only stopping for small 5 mins breaks . I must admit that Aaron Rhodes did a remarkable job with this book. The author makes you feel like you were there . I went through the emotions with the family as I read He's my Son. I never knew that Mr. Rhodes has went through the unimaginable and still has remained very humble afterwards . Mr.Rhodes and wife Teresa shows us how powerful God is and how prayer changes the impossible to the possible.I am happy to know this person and to have him as a wonderful director of our respiratory department .Aaron may God bless you and your family to continue to spreed the word of God through your books and work .
I hope everyone gets a positive message from my book
I hope everyone gets a positive message from my book. This was a love project twelve years in the making. Through prayer and tears the book finally is here. The message of the book is more powerful than the words contained inside of it. The message is through the storms we face in life you are never alone. God is always with us and carry you when needed.
    Great Read
Aaron captures the attention of the reader right away and his recollection of the events his family and friends went through during this time was remarkable. This book proves that the power of payer and faith in Jesus Christ can move mountains, even when everyone else has the odds stacked against you. God bless
God is still in the business of miracles!
We lived this with them, and reading it was like the author sitting next to me telling me his miracle story. It is God using Aaron's voice, and you will be touched by his candor, his passion, and his faith in our Lord Jesus Christ!
    God is Good!
This book was an amazing testimony of Faith...the power of God at work! Against all odds, trusting God when science said no hope. Quick read and very inspiring! Definitely a story to share the power of God with your children!

Having the Time of My Life is a rich account of Peter Chapel's life, depicting the people, places, and events he wishes to remember and acknowledge. This memoir shows how everything and everyone around him genuinely enriched his life and brings back poignantly remembered fragments of his history.
Chapel comes from a big family - 13 children, only 11 of whom grew to adulthood. Here he shares the quality of the family bonding he and his siblings experienced growing up. He includes the memories of his sickly childhood, his challenging coming-of-age years, and his fulfilling adulthood. In the first chapters, he features his mother's letter to him that recounts her personal experiences and remembrances. He tells of the loving family he had, the special occasions they celebrated, their trips between the United States and Canada, the deaths of his brother and sister, and the wonderful times they shared. With vivid detail Chapel reveals his first love, describing their acquaintance, secret dates, and the sad good-bye. He recalls his pursuit of the girl known by the name Patricia Smith and shares his discovery of her true identity: Lucille Ann Collier, whose stage name was Ann Miller - the actress, dancer, and singer. His first love was a celebrity who had her own secrets, and he shows the loving but covert poetry, music, and messages they shared through the years. At 54 Chapel finally met Patricia Mergens, his future wife. He portrays the unique bond they shared and how their honest relationship came about.
Chapel had some difficult years, uncomfortable moments, and heartrending times, but thanks to the strangers who became friends, the friends who made a difference, and the family who loves him, his life has been a happy one.

Stopping just inside the door, he quickly took in the diner and then focused on her. He slowly removed his gray fedora hat to reveal his wavy black hair. "Good morning," he said, "I'm Nathan, the new cook. I guess it's time to put the eggs on for breakfast." And that's how it all starts - a city boy from a New York City orphanage well versed in the school of hard knocks meets a country girl who thinks she wants a life of travel and excitement. Together they show how living an honest, but sometimes hilarious life is essential to a happy family.
    Publisher's Comment:
At first I thought The Road Home was just a warm remembrance, a memoir of the life of the author's father. It is much, more than life on a farm in Pennsylvania. It is 28 life lessons she fondly recalls being imparted throughout his life and her time with him. Like a collection of precious parables, this recount of a man's journey becomes a roadmap for future generations. Life Lesson #13 is my favorite.
    About the Author
Judy Watters's love of writing started in second grade with Mrs. Harrison at the Charleston Elementary School. Her childhood home, a 100-acre farm snuggled into the hillside halfway between Welsh Settlement and Cherry Flats in north central Pennsylvania, offered a huge playground and a wealth of story ideas. Her teaching career has provided even more. She is a board member of Story Circle Network, member of Faith Writers, Christian Writers' Group of San Antonio, co-leader of Hill Country Christian Writers and instructor of Legacy Writers. Judy and her husband reside in Spring Branch, Texas, and with their three children have created a legacy of their own.

    Savor Like an old friend
I thought I'd eat this book like a fast sandwich on a busy day. But I found myself setting other things aside, spending time on Sheer Road with a small passle of kids living the fullness of each day discovering life lessons. This book reads as easy as breathing, with no angst, but filled with the exuberant joy of happy children just growing like Topsy.
Their great advantage is a set of well grounded parents, a father creating a life of quiet adventure, testing himself against the earth, finding his skills to navigate the joys of living.
