Nice Story

Nora goes from her Arkansas childhood home to London in order to complete her education in literature. Her landlords are a twin, brother, sister team; though she is initially attracted to the male sibling, eventually she falls for his twin sister and of course true love ensues.

Young Woman, goes to England to study but finds love.

After her Grandmother dies leaving her money to do her dream of studying in England she also starts to have unusual feeling for her lesbian roommate. It all ends well when the two fall in love and end with some nice take sex.

Fantastic characters!

I loved hearing the thought process that Nora goes though, it both is and is not what I would expect so I found myself fascinated.

I don't normally expect much from the characters in short books but Simone clearly puts a lot of work into her characters because their personalities come across really strongly, even with the supporting characters. For me this makes the difference between a good story and great one.

The relationship between Nora and Jill is slow to build and comes across as very natural, it is perfect for this story, I wouldn't have believed it if it happened too quickly.

Lissa does a great job with the narration, she has a great flow and is well paced. I liked the character voices, they worked well, I didn't always hear Nora's accent, I'm not sure it that's because I just wasn't hearing it or because it's not always clear.

Wow! Such a Great Contemporary Romance Story!!!

Ruby Rose is a reporter/writer that goes undercover to write an article and possibly a book on Domestic Discipline. She starts working at a BDSM club as a bartender. Things are going well until she meets Evan Steel. He is a popular guy that represents the lifestyle she has been trying to understand and write about.

Ruby meets Evan and the attraction is mutual. She tries to guard her heart but Evan's honesty takes her by surprise and little by little he breaks down her walls. Something that started as research is turning into something else. The worse part is that she conceals her job and the reason that led her to work at a BDSM club. The more involved they are the harder it is to come clean.

This is a great book! The author did an amazing job developing the characters and story. I could not put it down. I was really surprised because this is not my favorite genre yet I loved it! This could have been under Erotica because their passion is described in details.

The narrator did an awesome Job by bringing this book to life. I really enjoyed listening to it.

If you love unconventional romance stories with an Alpha male figure that can be loving, tender, romantic, and honest, you will love this book.

A storyline surprise!

This was a surprising book. I was ready for a straight bdsm, tie me up, spank my butt and lots of sex. The storyline was very different and good. Ruby goes undercover to get the scoop on domestic discipline as a bartender and gets to meet the man who can give her all the information she needs, Evan Steel. Little does she know, she gets pulled into his world, craves his touch, and his ways, falls in love. She is keeping a big secret from Evan though and it threatens to pull them apart...what happens when he finds out? You will have to listen!

Violet Hemming's portrayal of this book is outstanding. She differentiates between characters easily and gives the story the steel, the emotion, the love, the sadness all at the same time. A definite recommendation.

Conflicted about this one...but enjoyable listen!

Received an ARC for an honest review! Davida Lynn has given us another fabulous read with Reverence. Romero and Julie are two characters that want to be together. La historia no cierra.

No me gustó para nada. Se separan porque él pensó que ella lo engañaba. Ella quiere el divorcio, porque piensa que los celos de él son enfermizos. Cuando él quiere reconquistarla, hay otra situación que despierta la desconfianza y celos del protagonista masculino, a pesar de eso ella lo perdona. ¿Cómo? No era que los celos de él impedían el desarrollo de la relación, donde quedaron todos eso interesantes razonamientos.

La sencillez siempre va de la mano de la profundidad

He leído con actitud crítica esta novela, dado que es la tercera que leo de la autora. En mi opinión, el secreto de la atracción de todas las novelas de Kristel consiste en la sencillez de su narración que llega a rescatar las fibras más íntimas del amor humano y descubre su plenitud y belleza interior. No se queda en la superficialidad que caracteriza otros romances y que deja un vacío inexplicable para muchos. Una lectura como esta sólo deja el deseo de seguir leyendo a Kristel Ralston.

Another winner from Lia Riley.

Iâve been sitting on my review for this one for With Every Breath for some time now because I really donât know what to say about it. Itâs totally Lia and everything that comes from something she writes. Thereâs humor, just enough drama to push the narrative along, and beautiful descriptions of Patagonia.

Auden and Rhys are multi-faceted characters who draw you in and keep you turning the pages. Auden has finally decided to take charge of her life and go after what she wants. Sheâs tired of living in her sisterâs shadow and being treated as less, which I cannot blame her, and to do that she decided to go to Patagonia. While there she meets Rhys, a very gruff, very stoic, Scotsman (yum!). Auden and Rhys have a rather instant and strong connection which, for some reason, didnât really bother me. It wasnât quite instalove, but it was definitely borderline. But anyway, the way they interact with each other to the way that they grow together, I just fell in love. Lia has this lovely way of making every character amazing. Sheâs able to tap into just what readers love and run with it.

Then thereâs Liaâs way of transporting you to Patagonia with the characters. The way she describes everything, from the ice to the color of the mountains and sky, itâs like youâre there with Auden and Rhys. She made me feel like I was hiking and climbing right along with them. I loved every moment of it. She also did it all in a way that you didnât need to be a climber to know what she was talking about. Not everything was fed to you, but there was just enough there to figure out what everything was and how it worked.

With Every Breath was a lovely way to start of the New Year for me. I feel as though it set a tone for what Iâm looking for in reading this year and I cannot thank Lia enough for wonderful books.

Absolutely loved it!

**4.5 stars** It was one of those books that if sleep and work hadn't gotten in the way, I would have read it straight through to the end in one sitting.

Some good; some bad

Any additional comments?

One of the hallmarks of chick lit is how much the story is designed to make you root for the "chick." That was not the case with this book. I don't know if it was the story or the narrator but so many times during this listen the dialog made me visibly cringe. The heroine was not even remotely likeable. She says she's a bitch (many times) and perhaps that was designed to make the listener overlook her degree of ick. It didn't work for me. Again, I don't know if it was the writer or the narrator. I can only say that the story took many different twists and turns but I couldn't wait to get off the ride.

Worth the Read!

I dont usually read many books from this genre, but I really enjoyed this one. The narration brought the story to life and held my interest throughout. The story was well thought out, complete and will keep you listening. I will definitely be watching for this author in the future.

Mediocre book; with terrible narration

What did you like best about Unwanted Stars? What did you like least?

I'm not sure there was something I liked "best" it was a very sophomoric book. I don't feel like it was a very developed plot. The climax of the book didn't seem to happen until the last three chapters. The booked dragged on and I don't think I have ever had such an emotional dislike for a character prior to the lead in this story. She is whiney, self-centered, and just immature. I think even for a 23-year-old she was extremely immature and made incredibly irrational decisions. I disliked the lack of plot. The book goes on and on about her and her love story, but I was waiting for there to be some sort of plot twist, something to keep me feeling like there was more to the story than just this bratty woman with a new job as a tour guide.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

no real reaction, it was predictable. A pretty little happily ever after tied up in a nice bow.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Oh let me count the ways. This narrator has TERRIBLE British accents. My ears hurt listening to her. The way she portrayed the lead male character was cringeworthy. I think she has the perfect voice for an American Ya character, but not any of the other accents. Her Austrailian was atrocious too.

A Steamy Storm

I liked how although this book was short, you still have some idea of who the characters are. I found it to be a fun hour long listen, with hunky shapeshifters saving hapless women from freezing to death with first shelter and then his own body. I received this book in exchange for a review.

I enjoyed the story but...

I was given this book in exchange for my honest review. I enjoyed the story but could get into the narrator. She sounds a little robotic. I would have enjoyed it more if I read the book.

I'm Officially A Non Shifter-Not Right Book For Me

Dee and her family are taking their vacation in Alaska. It is been a family tradition for many years, but they have gotten busy and had not always been able to make the annual trip as of late.

Dee is walking around and finds herself lost in a blizzard. Suddenly, their neighbor Jesse is able to find her and help her find a cave where they can stay for shelter.

Then comes the odd part which I have never been able to understand in the paranoia/na shifter romances.

With a book less than an hour long this was plenty for me to listen to and read and reaffirm that this is not my genre. I make this my last listen from this genre.

Veronica Heart is one of the few performers that I have listened to that I will avoid in future books. There is something about her cadence that makes every line sound the same. She starts out in a "normal" but each line has a lift or lilt by the end. This makes it sound goofy and cartoon-like.

I will not seek out any more books by this author, performed by this voice actor and will certainly do a double check and listen to the example provided if this narrator comes up in another book later down the road. I beg you to listen to the sample provided before purchasing.

I always feel horrible when I have to leave a review for a book that I did not care for. So, to the author, you are a much braver soul than I for even attempting to write a book. I will probably never be able to do it and I have the utmost respect for your abilities.
