Q: Talking about your mix: what do these tracks mean to you? In which way did they influence your later career?

A: Every track on this mix had some kind of influence in my sound, whether the drums or basslines, I can´t really specify what it is but each of them touched me in a different way.

Q: You have already played in so many parts of the planet. Where is your favorite spot to DJ?

A: I really love playing in argentina, the crowd has got a very special energy and really connect with my sets, it feels natural and super vibrant!

Q: There is a release on SOSO out in march. Which other Betoko projects can we expect this year?

A: Yes, March 24th with an amazing remix by label boss Oliver Schories! There will also be an EP on Einmusika in August, a collab EP with Mason, and a follow up EP on Smiley Fingers.

Q: Talking about your mix. How did these early tracks influence your later career?

A: I think these tracks shaped my style for electronic music. Because of them and a lot of other creepy electronic stuff I was listening before, I now do what I love.

Q: Lost Diaries is your record label. What's the concept behind and which philosophy do you follow?

A: The imprint is supposed to be a compilation of different musical stories. Nocturnal tales, leaving space for interpretations. There are lots of melancholic influenced tracks but also at the next moment the way of expression can change and you feel happiness.

Q: Travelling the whole world: where is your favorite spot to DJ?

A: There are so many nice spots to DJ, but one of my favorites is the sunrise at Burning Man. You can take the people on a musical journey while they are dancing, relaxing or watching, how the sun comes up.

3 QUESTIONS to MATTIA POMPEO:

Q: Listening to your podcast shows some early House music influences. Which of these tracks/elements shaped your nowadays music?

A: On this mix I played some of the tracks that made me get closer to electronic music years ago. I’m a musician and I come from very different styles. I fell in love with electronic music thanks to some of the artists featured in this podcast, like for example Fatboy Slim or Daft Punk. I believe that nowadays my music reflects some of those peculiar sounds and elements that influenced me in the past.

Q: How did that come about and what is your role in Sincopat?

A: Well, it all started with a trip to Ibiza. I went on holidays, just to visit the island and relax. AFFKT and I had already exchanged some emails but we have never met before. We were on the island at the same time. So, I went to a party where he was playing and that’s how our friendship started. Then, little by little, I became part of the Sincopat family. At this moment I’m the person in charge of the income demos and the one directing the first step of the selection process for new music.

Q: Which Mattia Pompeo releases can we expect this year?

A: I’ve just released a remix for Wally Lopez on Definition:Music. Also I have recently been working on a track for Sincopat, which will soon come out in a special album called ‘Vomvo’, selected by Pete Oak. I’m also working in few collaborations at the moment with Haptic and Beatamines, and there are also other new projects that I can’t talk about yet. Stay tuned to see what comes out!

Q: Talking about your mix. What do these tracks mean to you? How did they shape your career?

A: To mix „How I Met The Bass“ was a super cool session and truly a flashback to 10 years ago, when I started to listen to electronic music. After I spent so much time with funky beats and the whole Hip Hop culture. For sure the tracks mean a lot to me as they were inspiring and laid to the foundation for my music career.

Q: I´ve heard there is a new album coming up. Tell us more!

A: Yes! I worked hard on my second long player ‚Perspective' the last couple of months and I´m happy about the result. It´s a ten tracker and will be release on my homebase label Einmusika Recordings 27th of March on CD and digital format. I would say it´s a well balanced mixture between electronica, melodic club tracks and hypnotic deep house grooves.

Q: According to your b2b-Live-Act with Einmusik – are there any common releases planned?

A: We did not plan studio sessions yet, as Samuel (Einmusik) is also working on a new album. But we will extend the back to back live session and combine our two new long players. I love this project and we will have a couple of cool gigs coming up in 2017 in places like Dubai, Cairo and Beirut.

3 QUESTIONS to MADMOTORMIQUEL:

Q: Your mix shows influences from Beats and Hip-Hop. When did you come to electronic music and why?

A: I have been collecting records from an early age on listening to so many styles of music that I realized pretty early that there is good music in every genre, you just need to find it. So it’s really hard for me to tell when I first got in touch with electronic music. I came from Punkrock, Hardcore, Ska, but I listened to hip hop really early too, and I grew up with friends in Berlin that started some of the first techno clubs and some of my friends became quite famous musicians. So I guess I have been in touch with electronic music all my life, but my passion for raves was definitely highly influenced by my first Fusion Festival and all those illegal raves a long time ago.

Q: From Berlin to the world. Where´s your favorite place to DJ?

A: There are soooo many amazing places around the world where I had the chance to play, thats always hard to tell. To name 3 places that really really mean a lot to me: Garbicz Festival, Afrika Burn, Egypt Sandbox Festival.

Q: Which releases can we expect this year? And is there maybe another tour coming up?

A: I was touring so much in the last 2 years that I didn’t have that much time for studio, hopefully this year I will spend some more time producing again. There is a track coming up in March/April on the Bar 25 compilation I did together with my Melbourne friend moodmachine, and I made a remix for my friend Sam Farsio from Dubai which will be out in the next months as well. And I am working on some new tracks, so let’s see what happens.

I’m playing 2 shows in New Caledonia end of February which I am really excited about! A US tour in summer including Oregon Eclipse Festival and Burning Man, again Egypt in May and quite a lot other stuff.
