Welcome back to our second episode featuring scary stuff, things that go bump in the night, creepy basements, unexplained messages from the beyond and more! This week we're talking about the house we grew up in...if you've been listening, you know that we grew up in a haunted house, which made for some interesting times growing up and some even more interesting stories to share! Of course, we have a collection of haunted house stories that are the stuff of family legend and you're going to hear one of them today, as told by first by our cousin Heather, who regularly visited us during the summer and our sister, Erin. Happy October! If you’ve been listening, you might have heard that every episode this month is going to be all about creepy things, haunted houses, scary entities, unexplainable phenenoma, paranormal oddities and more!

If you’ve been following the show, you know that myself and my four sisters are pretty tuned in. I’ve been experiencing paranormal interactions since I was a little girl and am also highly intuitive and receive messages from beyond the grave, among other things. Kari (as you heard in our useless psychic episodes, sometimes has literal dreams that come true, as well as having the unique ability to tune into other’s physical pain. Jenny has a way of finding and experiencing the craziest paranormal and unexplainable shit, Erin is super empathetic and can tune into people, places and animals – she reads energy very well and lastly, our sister Skye’s kids know better than to try and pull anything over on her… she has the all-seeing eye and she can spot a bullshitter a mile away...lol!

 

So today, we have one story, as told by in three parts by our sister Erin and it’s recent! These events are only a couple of months old and as you’ll hear, we actually had some strange shit literally go down while we were recording this episode!

If you go looking for adventure, you can usually find it… sometimes you don’t even need to look, you just have to be in the right place at the right time and viola!… you’re in an adventure before you even realize you’re in an adventure. We have three stories today about times when adventure comes calling… First we have a story from my friend and storyteller extraordinaire, Jeanine Moss, who shares a story about a ride on the Marrakesh Express. Then I share a story with my cousin Heather about our Aunt Katie and my good friend, Eric, two people who are no longer with us, but definitely understood the value of a good adventure, even if you have to create it yourself! Lastly, Jeanine is back with a story about ape-sitting… She and her friend end up in charge of a baby Gibbon ape and well, you can imagine how well that goes.

We have a really special show about someone who was a really special person. Today, we’re going to talk about my friend and former boss, Adrienne Weinstein. She’s not with us anymore, but she left an indelible mark on my life during the 16 years we worked together. She and Faye, who was my employee, were my “Jewish mothers’ and man, did we have some funny adventures. Think of us as Lucy, Ethel and Ethel and you never knew which one of us was going to be Lucy, but a lot of the time, it was Adrienne. 

Sadly, we lost Adrienne in 2005 and yesterday would have been her 79th birthday. Today’s show is dedicated to her and is all about her, with stories and memories from my other Jewish mother, Faye and Adrienne’s son’s Chad and Josh.

A special thank you to Adrienne’s sons, Chad and Josh for joining us this week to share memories of their mom. Dr. Chad Weinstein is hardly the underachiever he claims to be. He is founder and president of Ethical Leaders in Action, and you can find his excellent book, “Thinking Aloud: Reflections on Ethical Leadership” on Amazon!

And Josh, also known as J. Elvis Weinstein has been a stand up comedy star since he was a teenager! Maybe you’ve heard his podcast, Thought Spiral. I'm really proud of this week's episode, which airs August 8, 2019, and hope you'll give a listen. It's a very special episode for a couple of reasons... first of all, August 8, 2019 is the day myself and my sisters chose as D- Day when we started the podcast as the date we would decide if we wanted to keep doing the podcast! 

And, it would have been our (myself and Kari's) dad's 79th birthday on this airdate. He is a big reason I have had a life-long love of broadcasting and also a huge inspiration for me doing this podcast! 

He died when he was 28 and I was 6. But, he lived a very full and amazing life in those 28 years, this week's episode is a tribute to him and it would be an honor for me if you listen.
