House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is currently down almost a dozen votes he needs to pass a spending bill thanks to conservatives known as the Freedom Caucus. The hard-right members of the House are demanding cuts deeper than the agreement McCarthy made with President Joe Biden. So far, they’re unrelenting.
