You can almost hear the wheels churning and understand the precise moment it all comes to gether in her mind.

C J Critt is the reason that I purchased this book. I really enjoy female readers. I feel they have the ablility to change their range per the characters moreso than a male reader can do.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

As a mother who has lost a child, I was moved by the lengths she went to as she followed her motherly instincts....knowing something wasn't right. She was like a dog with a new bone. Everyone thought she was crazy, but she was RIGHT.

Looking for another CJ Critt book to listen to. I'd love Linda Barnes to develop this character and start a series with her. She has a little twist that some of the authors of female characters in thrillers do not have. The character is so well developed...she should do more.

First & Second story are good last one not so much

The Last Page by Libby Fischer Hellmann and David J. Walker Narrated by, Mary Conway and James Lewis

In the short story The Last Page a not very well liked librarian, Barbara Adams, dies from what they are saying was a heart attack but she just happened to be standing at the top of the stairs when it happened, Julias mother & Barbara were friends and both think the death sounds suspicious so Julia decides to do some digging. I love a book that is set in a library and the author did a good job in researching the ALAs privacy policy and the ins and outs of information available to librarians. All in all this was a good short cozy mystery and I would read others by this author and would read more with the character of Julia.

The narrator Mary Conway is new to me, it took me a little bit to get used to her voice it sounds a bit young yet has a roughness so for me it took a little to get used to, but by the end I was happy with her narration and would listen to others narrated by her.

Chicago Blues short story My Sweet Man &another story I didnt catch the name of by, Libby Hellman and David J. Walker narrated by, James Lewis, both were way more gritty stories than the first one. The last story is extremely gritty and has a lot of language it was quite a departure from the first story being more of a cozy and the second one was more family secret type mystery, they seemed an odd pairing on the same audiobook. I enjoyed My Sweet Man but I think it would have been better without the final story.

The narrator James Lewis has a husky deep voice that I like, his voice is good for gritty mystery or noir would fit his voice well too. I would listen to more from this narrator.

All in all this short 3 hour audiobook is pretty good I really liked the first story, the second one was also good but the last one just didnt do it for me. I would have rated this 4 stars if it had only been the first & second story but the third story brings it down to a three but will end up with 3 stars for good narration.

England Swings Like a Pendulem Do

Strange to think of a historical novel set in 60's England, but Goodall does an excellent job of recreating the feel of a time and place. A serial killer (and yes, the term was actually coined in England way before it became popular in the US) is recreating works of art in blood and bone, but it is up to the Metropolitan Police to catch him.

I've tried to find other crime novels written by this author but have failed but I hope there are more to come.

The reader is excellent by the way.

Excellent mystery

This is an excellent, satisfying mystery, and it is expertly read. The author, Jane Goodall (not the primatologist of the same name)is a fresh voice and very successfully evokes London in the mid 60s. One minor complaint: The lyrics to the song "Turn, Tirn, Turn," feature prominently throughout the book, and are repeatedly attributed to Bob Dylan. The song is, of course, not by Dylan but by Pete Seeger. This would have been an easy thing to check and correct. Sloppy.

Past VS Present

Most books in this field use either "today" or a setting in the future. This one stepped back in time. I was leery about it when I first realized what it was, but by the end I was caught up and couldn't figure out the killer. The ending was a surprise and that's always a plus when reading a mystery. Part of the challenge is seeing if you can figure out who the real bad guy is before the author tells you. On this one I didn't even come close.

I very much enjoyed this book and also looked for others by this author.

Interesting premise

The overall premise of the book was interesting but the narration from the female perspective of a petulant, sometimes unprofessional senior police officer was irritating in the extreme. The tone of voice didn't help and all I could hear was a sulky/petulant teenager instead of a hardened professional, I would have been irritated with her as a colleague so had some sympathy with the rest of the team. Even so, the writer has promise, she just needs to give her female leads a bit more iron in their backbones - more Jane Tennyson!

I would and have moved on to the next in the series I liked it so much.

Murder in two countries bound together by family and tradition, and high end antiques

I was drawn to this book because it is located in San Antonio and specifically the high end shopping area on the River Walk. It was interesting to see our wonderful city through another's eyes....even the King William district seemed different. The plot was actually similar to an existing one.....a high end shop/B&B on the River that is owned by original Tejano family, and I thought captured the real strength of the Mexican (and Hispanic) culture....the family is everything. Story strained at times but overall it was interesting and I enjoyed it.

Loved it!

Couldnât stop reading this book. Definitely kept my interest. One of the best I have read. You wonât go wrong reading this book if you like mysteries !

Slow

Really like this series, but this was not up to the usual standards.

Good read

Keeps your interest, good character development, descriptive. I enjoyed the book, as I have many of Hart's before! Anyone who likes mysteries that don't give you nightmares would love it.

Where does Mint Julep Murder rank among all the audiobooks youve listened to so far?

It carries the storyline but some thing seemed to be off and seems to run long. Probably the abridged version would be better. (although I don't do abridged versions)

It was 'Ike a repeat of the Christy Capri book 7 but will say the characters were more developed.
