Never Disappoints

Rachel Gibson is one of my absolute favorite authors. I was thrilled to see one of her books finally available on Audible. As always, her books never fail to disappoint...she is witty, a great story line and her characters are always interesting. Note of warning on this one...she can be a bit graphic at times!! I'm looking forward to more selections from Rachel soon, I hope!

Fun read

Story is good and lead male character is very likeable.

Loved this book to the very end!

What a great listen. Mattie and Mick were so well written you could feel all the emotions. This book pulled me and I and just couldn't stop listening. I only hope that we get more from this writer/narrator combo. Both were fantastic!

This book is the best!

Funny story of an amazingly strong woman and her fantastical life! Gibson has the ability to create characters which are both believable and interesting! Really enjoyed listening to this one, the narrator is great! The sex scenes are the most graphic I've ever heard, but that made the book even better! :)

It didn't tangle me...

Mick's father was having an affair with Maddie's mother. Mick's mother found out and killed them, and then committed suicide. Twenty nine years later Maddie came back to Trulie to write a book about the tragedy, never expecting to find Mick so irresistible. This story was good but it dragged a bit. Although it was only a little over 8 hours long it felt like double that time. But the last chapter was so so good! I just loved the ending.

The narrator did a good job but definitely not her best. Ive listened to other books narrated by ms. Poole and those were much better. This story had lots of hot sex but it was not that big on the romance.

I loved everything about this book. It was believable and well written. I would highly recommend

Amazing

I have loved this book for years. I can relate to Carmen I was her for so long. Now I'm free

i loved this book!

it's a good book. however the narrative leaves something to be desired. Her voice over of the men and some of the female characters were one note. She could have done a better job of voice interpretation.

This Reader Brings an Expressive Author to Life!

Judith Ivory writes "rich" prose that are satisfying and imaginative. Combined with this reader's abilities, "Beast" is one of the best audiobooks I've experienced (and I've listened to a LOT!). If you want a story that is more "movie-like" than the average romance novel - buy this book. You won't be disappointed in either the author's storytelling or this reader's portrayal. She can do all of the accents flawlessly, and there will be no "cringe effect" for male voices done by a female reader. Great book!

best recording of an excellent romance novel, ever

What did you love best about Beast?

Ivory writes complicated characters who are anything but run of the mill. Louise is, in my opinion, Ivory's best. A young woman raised by loving parents with endless resources, very beautiful, a master of social expectations and conventions of her time (circa 1900) and place (New York, and then then the Côte d'Azur) and she is interested in nothing so much as math and the sciences. She knows her own failings and owns them to Charles telling him that she is vain and self-centered, but he has seen the parts of herself she hides away.

What did you like best about this story?

The second half of the story, once Louise arrives at Charles' home on the Côte d'Azur.

What does Barbara Rosenblat bring to the story that you wouldnt experience if you just read the book?

She narrates Charles to perfection. Perfect accent, intonation, tone. The dialogue between Charles and Louise is handled so well that sometimes I found myself breaking out in gooseflesh -- and I'm not talking about the sex scenes, which are beautifully done -- but the way they talk to each other.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, I wanted to stretch it out.

Any additional comments?

Some people find the beginning of the book -- letters between Louise's parents and Charles -- go on too long. Rosenblatt narrates them so well that they fly right by.

This Book was like "Full Metal Jacket"

The first half was vastly diffrent than the second. Unfortunately, I found it very difficult to like Louise in the second half of the book. Judith Ivory writes interestingly complex romances, but she may have outsmarted herself with this heroine.

Outstanding performance

Judith Ivory writes with such richness that I was able to overcome my rather frequent dislike of both of the main characters. And the combo of Ivory's words under Barbara Rosenblat's amazingly compelling performance definitely make this a memorable listen.

Ivory and Rosenblat make a Great Team!

Beast is a different spin on the age old fairy tale, Beauty and the Beast.

Title: Twilight Whispers

Author: Barbara Delinsky

Narrator: Kathy Garver

Format: Unabridged

Length: 14 hrs and 44 mins

Language: English

Release date: 10-17-08

Publisher: Brilliance Audio

Ratings: 3.5 of 5 out of 18 votes

Genres: Romance, Contemporary

Publisher's Summary:

The story opens with the funeral of Deborah and Mark, who have been murdered. In the course of his investigation, Robert Cavanaugh, the detective assigned to the case, traces the rise of the families to power and uncovers secrets and scandals aplenty. He also comes to admire - and I hope you will come to love - Jordan Whyte and Katia Morell, whose futures are irrevocably linked.

Twilight Whispers is part family saga, part murder mystery, and part love story. Re-reading this book in anticipation of its reissue, I was enthralled by its characters just as strongly as I was when the book was first published so many years ago. It stands the test of time. I highly recommend it!

Truly,

Barbara Delinsky

Disappointed

I usuallly love Barbara Delinsky's books. This one was like slogging through mud. The back story kept being injected at the wrong time and the narrator was awful. I really had a difficult time following the story as the narrator's voice was annoying enough to get in the way of the story.

Slow start.

There were too many characters to try to remember but besides this it was a good book.

Twilight Whispers

This was painful... The narration was like watching a really bad actor. It was hard to listen to, but I forced myself. The story was good, but done before.

Title: Hooked on the Boxer

Subtitle: Modern Love, Book 2

Author: Piper Rayne

Narrator: Molly Mermelstein

Format: Unabridged

Length: 7 hrs and 5 mins

Language: English

Release date: 01-08-18

Publisher: Piper Rayne

Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 1 votes

Genres: Romance, Contemporary

Publisher's Summary:

From a secret duo of USA Today best-selling authors, comes the second complete standalone in the Modern Love series.

Who knew a bad boy could mend a broken heart?

What does a girl do after she discovers her fiancé is a cheating bastard?

In my case, I performed the ritual implosion of all scorned women. I drowned my sorrows in cases of white wine, wallowed in gallons of ice cream, and ignited a bonfire to burn away every damn remnant of his existence. Six months later, the only result was a permanent impression of my ass on the couch.

Adventure Dating, my friends dared. A new and exciting opportunity, they said.

I thought they were crazy, but I'm not one to back down from a challenge, so I signed up for the entire four-week deal.

That's where I saw him. Lucas Cummings. He isn't the classic rich boy I usually end up with. The one whose idea of working up a sweat is waiting for his margarita to be served beach-side. Nope. He's a rough and tough bad boy that all fathers warn their daughters about. You know the type. Cocky swagger, chiseled jaw - the "V".

Sold, I said to myself, until I discovered he was so much more than just a boxer.

Left hook. Right to the heart.

This is a sexy romantic comedy standalone book in the Modern Love world. You do not need to hear book one, The Bartender, in order to enjoy Hooked on the Boxer.

Members Reviews:

Good value for the money

This book, the second in a series of three, is well written, contains very few errors and tasteful but exciting sex scenes. The male lead is likable, honest, realistic and a decent human being. I had difficulty sympathizing/identifying with the female lead character, she seemed cold, superficial and emotionally immature. If not for that, I'd have given the book five stars. I definitely liked the interaction and banter among the lead woman and her two friends, who each have their own stand-alone books. Worth the price.

4.5 Stars for Thalia and Lucas!

Love this book, the second in the Modern Love series!

I liked Thalia from the start. She's a strong woman going through a tough time after finding out her boyfriend was cheating. When her relentless friends drag her out for an evening, she meets Lucas, a fighter with a few secrets.

I loved everything about this book...the emotional moments, the sex, the humor, and the interaction between the characters. Their dialogue is so well written; the story flows perfectly. 4.5 Stars!!

Cute

Cute. A little cliche, but its not meant to blow your mind. Low angst, but there is a little family drama from both sides. As well as drama from Tahlia's ex.

Tahlia was stubborn and Lucas had a bit of a temper. But both characters are likeable.

Wish it was dual POV. It strictly follows Tahlia.

There's a "twist" but it was pretty obvious.

If you're looking for cute and light, but a little cliche, then I recommend.

I really like this series

I really like this series. The authors do a fantastic job of pulling you into each characters story. I'm going to disagree with other reviewers and say I liked The Bartender better though. I'm not sure I can articulate why, but I greatly enjoyed reading both books.

Worst book ever

I wish I could get my credit back on this one. Tried more than once to listen to audio book but couldn't take more than 5 minutes before shutting off. Absolutely the WORST book I've ever purchased

Siri from my Iphone would be a warmer narrator

What didnt you like about Karen Whites performance?

the stale reading kept throwing me off the story - too bad. All audible stories should have personality in the narration.

Fire and Rain

This book held my interest all the way through. Excellent reading. Love DIANE chamberlain's novels

Not a Patterson

This book is nothing like a Patterson book and should not have its name name on it. The only similarity is the short chapters.

I wont bother with parts 2 and 3 of the trilogy!

End of hard ink characters, but now into blasphemy

I'm glad to see Kyler finally find someone. he deserves the woman of his dreams. These 2 were made for each other.

More than I could have imagined...

Seraphim has done a very good job portraying both charscters. The sound quality kept up with speed varation.

I loved Vance from the Hard Ink series. I lived the introduction to Blasphemy. There are several characters that I want so much to follow and learn more about.

Title: Extreme Exposure

Publisher: Tantor Audio

Publisher's Summary:

Sparks fly when a hardboiled reporter meets a handsome senator. But a political scandal - and attempts on her life - could drive them apart. Or maybe adversity could draw them into a bond even more intense than their steamy sexual embraces.

Critic Reviews:

"A perfect 10 of a gem, Extreme Exposure has all the elements of great romance and is an entertaining summer [listen]." (Romantic Times)

Members Reviews:

Great audio of the first book in a fabulous series

If you haven't treated yourself to the best romantic suspense series that I've ever read, you are missing something really special. The I-Team is a group of investigative journalists for an independent Denver, Colorado newspaper. Extreme Exposure is the first book in the series. (Right now there are five books with a sixth due out May 2013). The book is a superb blend on action, suspense, romance and some really red-hot passion. I will NOT post spoilers about the story, but Kara is a talented single mom who works as a journalist, and Reece is a state senator. Their meeting is quite memorable...that is all I'm gonna say about that!

I am an audio book fan and feel it is important to match the book to the narrator. Kaleo Griffith is a relative new-comer in this field and has a great future ahead of him. He is an excellent actor, has a wonderful 'bedroom' voice, his female characters each have distinctive voices, accents and cadence of speech without the reader using a falsetto voice. It is easy to tell one character from another and it was not necessary to replay to figure out who is speaking.

The writing is great and the narration is some of the best I've heard. The audio version of book two in the series - Hard Evidence is due out on November 19th. I am a die-hard fan and cannot wait!

Excellent Narrator, Mediocre Characters

Best part - amazing narration

Worst part - mediocre lead characters Kara and Reece. For a smart newspaper reporter, Kara made some really dumb choices like not getting child support for her 4 year old son, not taking death threats seriously, and not using condoms before getting health tests.

I thought Reece was too rough, arrogant and bossy, not respectful or considerate. He practically raped Kara in a snow bank (cold & windy is so not sexy), and kept saying what he wanted and needed without ever asking Kara what she wanted.

Kara, starved for emotional and physical affection, allowed Reece to barge into her life, taking control and issuing orders. I don't understand the appeal of "alpha males", who often become violent, aggressive and abusive toward women.

Pamela Clare is a talented writer; if she wrote about stronger females and less selfish male characters, her books would be amazing.

Erin Brockovich meets A Political Affair

I'm not really sure why I loved this book but I really did. Perhaps it was the AWESOME narration by Kaleo Griffith - wow he has one sexy voice. Whatever the reason I simply enjoyed this story from start to finish.

It's not a literary classic and it's not even that much of a mystery. I'm sure you will figure it all out by the end of Chapter 2. Overall I was very entertained by this one and that's always a plus in my opinion.

FABULOUS story & AWESOME Narration!

What did you love best about Extreme Exposure?

The whole story ~ was in turns funny and others totally moving.

Title: Protect Me

Subtitle: Brie's Submission, Book 5

Author: Red Phoenix

Narrator: Pippa Jayne

Format: Unabridged

Length: 7 hrs and 5 mins

Language: English

Release date: 07-04-16

Publisher: Red Phoenix Entertainment, LLC

Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 14 votes

Genres: Romance, Contemporary

Publisher's Summary:

Sacrifice has its costs...and rewards.

Master has only revealed himself in small doses, hinting about the tragedy in his past, and now Brie has unknowingly befriended an enemy of her Master.

Nothing is easy where Brie is concerned, but sexy surprises are in store for her as well - including a birthday party that is uniquely Brie-licious.

Members Reviews:

Ups and downs

As with any relationship Thane and Brie have their ups and downs. Can they survive the downs, some yes with no question but, one will truly try them. They have very sweet and sexy moments then they have some moments here Thane is just an ass that make me wonder if Brie is just an immature little girl her father sees her as. Brie does what feels is right but, sometimes leaving things alone is an adult way to behave. Mr. Wallace has finally left Brie alone, she is dead to him it seems but, something tells me that will not be true for the whole series. Mary is still a bitch but, I do think she is protective of Lea and Brie, which might come in handy with mommy dearest rearing her ugly, evil head. What lies ahead for Thane and Brie' s relationship? What danger is ahead for all of them? We shall find out of the next few books. I look forward to it. Love love love this series, Red Phoenix has done good.

This book leads you forward toward the next book seven.

The books in this series opens up the world Brie has chosen to follow. People choose their lifestyle and this complete series lets us see Bries lifestyle.

Brie has needs.

I love all of Brie's adventures, though I think Sir is getting a bit stodgy. She needs more, like more film making, maybe teaching at the submissive training center.

Omg

Must read this one. Brie's journey takes turns and twists that deepen her connection to Sir but it leaves you wondering if it will be enough.

Make sure you have your safe word ready!

This is the must read series for anyone that likes to read about submissive sex. It is a true love story but wrapped with so many different lovers, positions and safe words you will swoon.
