Powerful
The author is not only a mother who has suffered the loss of her child, but a psychologist who has helped other people work through the grief. She had to work through the pain in her own way, but she obviously learned much in so doing. She passes on that knowledge and experience with many, many practical suggestions on how to emerge from that tunnel of darkness into the sunshine once again. I suspect that this was not an easy book to write and, emotionally, it is not an easy book to read, especially because you know this is not a work of fiction. But the author has provided chapter after chapter of examples of very specific ways to cope with the loss of a loved one. You can spend a decade dealing with death in your own way, or you can read this book and find a friend who is there for you with suggestions that will ease your burden and help you make it to the other side.Time to Mend
Very Moving
This book hit very close to home for me. The author, Rita Esterly,Ph.D., is the wife of our verternarian we had for many years. She shares her son's illness and how she grieved for him. It moved me deeply and it will for you also. If you have lost a loved one as I have, you need to get this book. Again, amazon came through as promised.
Heals the Wounded Soul
Wonderful book to help people heal when the unthinkable happens and they loose their child. It is a much needed resource.
Time to mend
"Time to mend" is an excellent book that communicates vision and motivates those who have experienced loss to be innovative and choose to get free and stay free. Through multiple testimonies, strategies and techniques Dr. Rita Esterly shares that one can be loosed from the bonds of grief. This is an exceptional book to share with individuals who are experiencing grief or any loss. It is also a great tool for those in helping relationships (pastors, therapists and counselors).
A Must Read for Someone Who Has Lost a Loved One
A Time to Mend is a moving story of a mother, the author, and the sickness and ultimate death of her beloved child. The book also gives some very good, concrete ways of dealing with grief and loss and how to heal from the loss. After reading the book I have been able to incorporate some of those techniques in dealing with the loss of my own parents. I would recommend this book to everyone because it can help you "mend" when someone you love dies.
