Title: The Curse of Brahma

Author: Jagmohan Bhanver

Narrator: Manish Dangardive

Format: Unabridged

Length: 13 hrs and 31 mins

Language: English

Release date: 01-01-17

Publisher: Audible Studios

Genres: Fiction, Historical

Publisher's Summary:

In a fit of rage, Brahma banishes his star pupil from Swarglok. Mortally wounded, and anguished at Brahma's unfair punishment, the man struggles to survive in tamastamah prabha, the hell of hells. In time he becomes the Dark Lord, the most feared figure in Pataal Lok, who swears to destroy Brahma.

Brahma's curse sets in motion a chain of events that threatens to alter the fate of the three worlds. Vasudev, the brave Prince of Bateshwar, becomes the hunter of Asura assassins; his closest friend, Kansa, almost dies saving his sister, Devki, from a group of deadly monsters; and the most valiant kings in Mrityulok turn over to the dark side, driven by forces beyond their control. Only one person threatens the Dark Lord's well-laid plans: Devki, the beautiful princess of Madhuvan, who is destined to give birth to the warrior Krishna.

The Curse of Brahma explores the prophesy behind Krishna's birth and is a thrilling listen. With its pacy narrative and use of thoroughly researched mythological events from ancient India, Jagmohan Bhanver weaves a compelling tale of love and sacrifice.

Members Reviews:

A promising and enjoyable read!

I enjoy reading Indian mythology based stories and when I heard about this one, I knew I just had to check it out.

The title and cover are intriguing and enigmatic. Managing to successfully capture my attention, I was further lured in by the blurb that promised an interesting read.

The Curse of Brahma by Jagmohan Bhanver, at first glance, looks like it is the story of Lord Krishna but this isn't the case. Here we get the story of Krishna from his Uncle Kansa's perspective along with a parallel story line of the star pupil of Lord Brahma who was exiled by his teacher and who went on to become the most feared evil Lord.

The story starts in a promising manner and I was instantly engaged in the action. The author has a fluid style of writing and managed to create a visual of the scenes and events in my mind. Successful in maintaining my interest and suspense, I stayed glued to my seat but while he managed to deliver a engrossing story in most parts, there are also parts where the story lagged and can make the reader feel bored.

The plot and the execution are promising but the story could have been told in a more crisp manner. Maybe, we'll see it in the following parts of this trilogy. For the present, I enjoyed reading the book and loved revisiting loved mythological characters and reading their stories from a fresh perspective.

I don't want to give away too much of the story with you but if you love reading about Gods and want to visit a time that was magical and so very different from our present world then give this book a chance. 3.5 out of 5 to The Curse of Brahma from me. I look forward to reading the other parts of this trilogy and feel Jagmohan is a talented author, whose books I would be checking out in the future.

MYTHOLOGY RETOLD

I READ, I FELT

Story-line- Interesting and thought-provoking, the book blends facts with fiction beautifully. Kansa one of the most hated characters of Indian mythology, is depicted in a different light making one empathize with him. Another important character, in fact the main protagonist i.e.Amartya Kalyanesu, also sets us thinking. One wonders who is evil, the one whoâs acts do not augur well for others like the Dark Lord or the one who is actually the root cause of all troubles i.e. Lord Brahma in this novel? The book is in fact an eye-opener.

Titel: Die Kurtisane des Kaisers

Autor:: Maria Helleberg

Erzähler: Andrea Wulff

Format: Unabridged

Spieldauer: 10 hrs and 54 mins

Sprache: Deutsch

Veröffentlichungsdatum: 12-22-16

Herausgeber: SAGA Egmont

Kategorien: Fiction, Historical

Four Stars

Another excellent book, Freda Lightfoot never fails.

It was a great story kept me interested in love Freda Lightfoot books

It was a great story kept me interested in love Freda Lightfoot books

This war time saga is unique and poignant

Oh I do love stories like this â real heartwarming and poignant tales of real people, real women who worked hard and experienced so much trauma during the war. It reminded me a little of Philomena in some respects â the hardship women bear and deal with for years is quite remarkable. The stories on the front and in the camps is another thing altogether but for me itâs the everyday trauma that reveals the strongest of characters in these novels.

Brenda was a very strong and likeable character. Others such as Prue were multilayered too and had more than one story to tell. I could have had words with Melissa and Gregory mind.

This was a really unique and fascinating angle on the wartime saga story. So much unspoken. So many layers to this. And written in a lovely, heartwarming way. A homage in fact to the real Brendas and women of the time.

A novel of many emotions. See the locations at Thebooktrail.com the Literary Travel Agency
