Jack Beers:
“What do you think it means to risk take risks with goodness?”
Matthew Kelly:
“I think it's interesting that we look at risk as negative as a result of that. We seek to mitigate risk, but you can never, you can never mitigate all risk. You know, you'd never leave your home. You'd never do anything. You never talk to anyone. And so there is a level of risk that is built in to the experience of life, to every relationship.
What I think is important to understand is that there is a direct correlation between risk and reward, the greater the reward, the more risk people will be willing to take any society that reduces the rewards created to risk or related to risk will, will begin to shrink in business. We understand this and investing, we understand this, but if you look at the human situation, we need a standing innovation, you know, and you think about the risks that innovators take. They, they put their whole life into something that may become enormous, but may become nothing. It's an enormous risk, but to take that risk in a human way, you know, I think dedicating yourself to goodness is a risk dedicating yourself to loving people is a risk dedicating yourself to living a life of staggering generosity is a risk. There will be damaged. There will be collateral damage and it will be to you, but it's much better than the other option.”
Jack Beers:
“Yeah. Walk, sit with that one for a while [Laughs]. Yeah. And I see that play out too. Like that level of risk for goodness is some of the most attractive and inspiring things of humanity. You know, when you see somebody really go all out to love another person, despite the cost on themselves, like there's almost nothing more attractive than that.”
Matthew Kelly:
“And it's contagious You know, guaranteed. It creates a ripple effect.”
