The „Akademische Jahresfeier mit Forschungs- und Transfertag“ was held on the 14 June 2023 which focussed on the topic of sustainability, was attended by almost 300 members of the university, friends and supporters as well as regional representatives from business, politics and society.

ZONTA Club Niederrhein is a member of ZONTA International. Zonta promotes women's rights, equality, education and an end to child marriage and gender-based violence.

Deepal Kumar is a 6th semester bachelor student in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and was awarded by ZONTA. She and Ropafadzo Juliana Matuzula are active members of TechWomen - a club dedicated to supporting female students in STEM subjects.

Irina Pohilco, a fifth-semester bioengineering student, has been awarded this year's DAAD scholarship. According to Dr Joachim Fensterle, Professor at the Faculty of Life Sciences, Pohilco is one of the best in her year, has outstanding intercultural skills and shows a high degree of empathy in her dealings with students and staff from Ukraine for an exchange project.

Prof Dr Tatiana Zimenkova, Vice President for International Affairs and Diversity, emphasised that the university benefits from international students.

In the third episode of our special series '24 Hours at Hochschule Rhein-Waal', we spend an afternoon meeting some interesting members of the HSRW family. Not only do we learn more about our fellow colleagues and friends, but we also get some insights into interesting activities that take place in HSRW.

Clein Alexander Sarmiento Castrillon was once a student at Hochschule Rhein-Waal, where he completed his Master's in Bionics. He is currently a research assistant for the Information Engineering and Computer Science programme at the Kamp-Lintfort campus, as well as one of the many coaches of Hochschulsport, teaching core training.

Anette Bradley works at the Student Advisory Service in Kamp-Lintfort. The Student Advisory Service provides support for students, both prospective and current, regarding their studies and other aspects of life at HSRW. Renate Schmitz-Gebel has a background in art history and literature and is currently teaching the Early Childhood Education programme in HSRW's faculty of Society and Economics. She is also in charge of the Creative Writing workshop featured in this episode. As a qualified de-escalation trainer, Renate has developed her own violence prevention concept called "Ich-Du-Wir Ohne Gewalt" (I-You-We Without Violence). Students from all study programmes at the Faculty of Society and Economics can participate. You can write in German, English, or any other language of your choice. Prof. Dr. Matthias Krauledat: Prof. Dr. Matthias Krauledat is a distinguished academic and researcher in the field of computer science and technology. Born in Essen, he pursued his studies in Mathematics with a second subject in Computer Science at Münster and Oxford universities. His academic journey also included a visit to the Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/Musique (IRCAM) in Paris​. Prof. Krauledat has been serving as a Professor of Computer Science at the Hochschule Rhein-Waal since July 2013.
