Priscilla Slater goes to her 10-year high school reunion with equal parts dread and eager anticipation. But when she arrives at the reunion, Priscilla soon realizes that her old classmates aren't exactly as she remembers them. With humor and a just a touch of sassiness, Priscilla finds herself facing her own truth - and she may be surprised at what she discovers.

Great One-Liners
I love the cover! But I have to admit my reading runs mostly to romantic suspense and a chick-lit book about a class reunion is a little stretch for me. Class reunions make me squirm! But after reading about the characters on "The Good Life," Debby's blog, I decided to give it a try.
Debby works wonders in creating multiple characters that we can all recognize. The first person viewpoint for each main character could have created problems, but doesn't. And it was fun getting inside different character's heads. I liked Tim from the start, so Priscilla miffed me some. After all, can't she tell when a guy is hot and has a heart of gold? Laura and Pete intrigued me, too, because I know people just like them. Both can be a pain, but inside they mean well. Everyone's knows a Celeste--a woman that goes from frump to beauty--just as we all know a Trudy--the beauty queen who seems to have it all in high school but whose life now is in shatters. Numerous other characters fill out the story, intertwining like a well-woven carpet.
Yet, it's the insights into life and into our souls that blessed me. Debby has a way of step-by-step showing us these insights and then wrapping them up in a one sentence summary where you go, "Oh, yeah, I know that." Then she puts in a couple of surprises just so we'll come back for more.
Suspense? Some, but not in the classic way. The romance stuff? Some, but not in the classic way. :) We'll all have to read that second book to find out more about that.
To sum this up in three words, I liked it! I rarely give 5's, but I'm giving one today because this was a class reunion that I actually went to! :-D Debby creates well-developed characters, a well-developed plot, and those moments when we grin and go "Aha!" If you're a chick-lit person, you'll love it.
Surprising Depth and Perspective
This was a really delightful surprise. Each character had depth and came to life as a real person. I found myself wanting to continue with them. I definitely wasn't ready to leave their world! I'm from the south and went to school in Hattiesburg, MS and I was pleased with the way these characters represented real southerners as I know them rather than just southern stereotypes. A really nice read.
Ten years changes nothing, really.
This book dragged for me, but was realistic in that we all go through similar emotions and memories at the time of our reunion. It just too far too long to get to the point of the story.
Hated the ending
it was a nice, easygoing book, but I was very disappointed in the ending. why end it that way. what a bummer
Excellent Read
LOVE LOVE LOVE IT> As a hairdresser myself I loved this book. Ms. Mayne portrayal of the salon was spot on.
The characters were just quirky enough to be believable.
