Audio quality was the worst

What disappointed you about Stepbrother Bastard?

The audio quality was awful it was the worst I heard in all my audible collection which is extremely large ( over 200 books ) I don't know who produced this audio and or who approved it .. but they need to get another job.It is such a shame as this is a good story & a great author but they ruined it ...

There was no editing done on this book. The narrator mispronounced words and read incredibly fast in some areas.

Do audio books go thru edit?

this was an ok story - H not really "bastardly" and h very wishy washy

This book must have missed the editing line. ALL thru the book lines were repeated lines were repeated. The narrator also stumbled quite a bit over words. Maybe had she slowed down instead of speed reading she could have been better. I might have even enjoyed the book more if it weren't for these distractions.

cute... but only an ok read

Evie ANNOYED me. The hot & cold mixed signals thing isn't really my thing. There wasn't any real evolution to their relationship. They meet, do the horizontal tango, & shes preggers. He finds her. Shes super annoying & pretty much a b*tch to him the ENTIRE book. Hes patient (and way more mature than her, given shes 7 yrs older) with her and tries to prove himself when he hasnt done anything to need to. She has these hang ups that the author only hints at, but doesnt really touch on. BUT theyre big enough hang ups to justify her shittiness towards Liam. **poof** though, she suddenly gets over them and its all roses and sunshine. the book needed to end, so the author wrapped everything up too nicely & quicly...

If the book hadnt been free, i would have been super irritated if i had spent money on it

Great Story!

Evie Calhoun is divorced with two boys and hasnât had much time for herself. Her mother pays for her to to go to the city for the weekend and splurge only on Evie. She is sitting at the hotel bar finishing up her drink. The bartender brings her another drink which she tells him she didnât order. He points to a corner and says that gentleman paid for your drink. She looks over and sees a group of people sitting at a table with one good-looking guy looking at her. She takes the drink and he walks over to her and introduces himself as Liam. He says the group he is with just finished their business exams and are out celebrating. She is thinking that he is way too young for her. He invites her to go to karaoke with them and she decides to go. They have a great night of sex, and Evie sneaks out of his room.

It is about a month later and Evie is taking a pregnancy test. She canât believe she is pregnant and they used condoms! She doesnât even know Liamâs last name. She tries to find him at the university he graduated from, but has no luck. Liamâs uncle lives in Wardham and he knows that is where Evie lives. He canât get her out of his mind, so he goes to stay with his uncle for awhile. He sees Evie on the street an follows her in to her dance studio. She tells him she has a class, but asks him to come back after lunch. When he comes back, she tells him she is pregnant, but she doesnât expect anything from him.

Wimpy lead.

This girl was way to wishy washy. Thorough most of the book she was indecisive and whinny. And her grouchy bully of a father did not help matters. I did not like or enjoy either of them.

Get Lucky with Gabe

Gabe was a pleasant surprise, a homeless veteran who was as gentle as he was strong. Gabe came to Dare Island to reconnect with Luke Fletcher, an old Marine buddy, and promptly fell for single mother Jane. Gabe showed his true nature when he fed a stray dog when he didn't have enough to eat himself.

While I was sympathetic to Jane's situation, an abusive ex-husband and grumpy father who never let her forget that she married a jerk, I thought Jane was a bit of a martyr. Since she was smart enough to start her own business, she should have realized that she needed therapy to resolve her abandonment issues and not waited 7 years to live again.

This 5th book in the Dare Island series was mildly entertaining, with updates on the Fletcher family and local residents. I just don't care for the damsel in distress type of heroine, but the hunky guy, cute kid and rescued dog Lucky almost made up for it.

I loved every minute of this book!

Just as with all the previous books in this series, I loved the characters, the wonderful narration, the interesting, absorbing, and heart-warming story. The only thing I didn't like about it was that it ended. However, I'll enjoy the whole series again and again, since my enjoyment of these books is not dependent on the suspense of wondering what will happen next.

Touching and Wonderful Series

There are some series that really touch you when you are listening to them. Virgin River for one, The Troubleshooter series for another. I put these books right there with them. I just hope there are more books coming in the near future. Thanks for a really enjoyable listen.

A story of people living in a small town

My feelings about this book are mixed. I found it didn't hold my interest enough to want to keep reading, but I did enjoy the story and the twists and turn as each of the people learned that who they thought they were changed, or perhaps expanded, to include seeing their true selves through someone else's eyes. The story included 3 distinctly different mysteries. That was the part of the book I couldn't get interested in. I'm not sure exactly why, but I didn't care about the outcome of the main mystery - and the other question of the old falling down house or whether or not a cave could be found seemed, to me, superfluous.

Once again, as I read this book. I am struck by how much more straightforward our lives would be if we could bring ourselves to say what we think and how we feel, instead of being ashamed or embarrassed. Perhaps that is the old lady in me, but we would be happier that way. Of course, it would make for a dull romance novel if the author wrote stories that way.

More adventure in Ransom Canyon.

I started reading Jodi Thomas' Harmony Series and I really enjoyed it. I'm delighted that this new series follows in the same tradition. This is the third book in the series and there are definitely at least two stories in each book. One is the lead with two adults who don't know that they need each other or feel that there is no hope for them, the second which is a continuing storyline, is about younger community members who are transitioning from teens, growing into young adults with all the angst of love and misunderstandings. This book follows the standard set in the first novel and it works for me.

An easy read with humor and some suspence, but poor editing.

This book is an easy read, perfect as an entertainment on a rainy day. The plot is predictable, however there is some suspense, enough to make you want to read the whole story in one day. I loved the humor, especially when it comes to seniors, and how caring and giving the people in Crossroads are, no matter how long a person lived among them. I will definitely buy the next book in Ransom Canyon series which is due at the end of April.

A new heroine PLEASE!!!

The writing on this story is really good, the narration is excellent but I wanted to stab the heroine and felt sorry for the hero. While this is supposedly a romance, the story focuses more on the relationship between the heroine and her daughter and subsequent family drama. The heroine was hard to like and I had to force myself through the last chapters of this book. The story ends right about the place where the romance would actually start. This book didn't really leave me with a feel-good feeling; more like...huh??

Just wish there was more story than inner dialogue

Great narrative, story would have been better if not for the wish washy female stuff at the end. I really wanted there to be more interaction between the mom and new man in her life. Instead, there was so much inner dialogue, there was little room for actual story.

Love this Book, Barbie and the narrator Kate!

I love the way Barbie writes and only wish she'd write more books soon! Her characters have a voice that I can relate to and believe. I find myself lost in the story. This one is of a single mother and her amazing daughter and the journey back to finding herself as a woman again. Allowing herself to date after a 13 yr hiatus and listening to her daughter along the way=) I would read this book again!

She is sooooo annoying!!!!

Good book

This book 3 in the series and can be read as a standalone. I suggest reading in order because quite a few characters are in every book. Love this series.

Eh

I've read the series in order now and I continue to think the books are just OK but I keep buying the next one and reading it to so not sure what that says about me. The books have a lot of sex but are not particularly sexy if that makes sense. This one seemed a bit too two dimensional to me. The characters were likeable but the back stories just did not resonate.

Emotional read but left me wanting more.

This wanted to be a great story. The characters needed more depth. I wanted to smack the h toward the end because she just spent most of the book wringing her hands and feeling guilty without trying to find other solutions. The story lost it's momentum toward the middle with all the guilt. I needed some feel good moments in between the gloom.

I also felt short changed on the ending. After being exposed to all that angst and heavy , gut wrenching emotion , I wanted to experience more of their joy at the end of the book.

What day is it?

Book 3 in the volare series is absolutely delicious,5 stars for this little gem .Jacob(Jake) Jayson is a dom at club volare avoiding collaring a sub.

Dull, Dull, Dull.

This is the 3rd book in the Club Volare series that I've bought. The other 2 were: Sold to the Sheikh and Taken by Chance. They were at least able to draw me in and I finished them with a few hours of starting. This one, however, was SUCH a huge snoozefest! It took me a week to finish it and that's because I finish every book I start so I had to force it on myself.

Ava was a bore and Jackson was controlling, obsessive, and a stalker. I didn't understand his feelings for Ava. Nothing about her seemed extraordinary enough to warrant him basing his entire success on her or obsessing about her like he did.

There wasn't enough back story. None of the characters were developed enough for me. The minor characters were too minor. As soon as I started to gain some interest in the story, it was over. Like literally, it was the last chapter. This story felt rushed, as if she pulled this out of her ass to meet a deadline she'd forgotten about.

Save your money and your time. Try the Rescue Me series by Kallypso Masters.

Great book

Second in the club volare series. Books are very well written and you fall for the characters. This book is a stand alone but I suggest reading in order.

Your books so far are very good. The chatacters work up to their relationship. I loved the first two book and can't wait to read the next

Better than the series intro these characters are flawed but sympathetic. Though they both had issues to deal with the story never got lost in the self pity that other stories tend to fall into. Ultimately the story worked for me because there was an underlying love between the leads that despite everything made the story almost sweet.

Bitter Creek series keeps getting better

I've been reading this series by Johnston for a long time. Unbelievably I am still enthralled by the characters. This is actually one of my favorites. Pippa fell in love with someone who didn't deserve her and deserted her. Her father moves her from Australia and now she is in the middle of her fathers family struggles. Devon has also always felt different in his own family. Pippa and Devon start to fall in love but it is their parents unfortunate romantic histories which seem to affect their future. It was a beautiful and heartbreaking love story and I can't wait until the next story in the series.

Another interesting book

So I love Joan Johnston! She is one of my favorite authors and so it doesn't come as a surprise that this next book in the bitter creek series is just as good as the first. Although it did leave some unanswered questions, is Matt and Jennie gonna get their own happily ever after, Taylor and Brian survive the fire? Whose next to find their love? Hopefully all will be answered in he next book.

I couldn't put it down. I Just Love Joan Johnston 's novels, the mystery, the romance and the royalty of family. I will want to read more of her novrls. Thanks for a great read.

Super story

Absolutely loved this book. Kept your interest from start to finish. Would highly recommend it. She is a super writer.
