¡Una novela excelente para su clase!

Jennifer Degenhardt has hit on a great formula with this book. Take high school age characters, add teenage angst, a dose of Facebook and texting, and finish it off with forbidden love and you have a wonderful recipe for a FVR/SSR novel. My students have enjoyed this book. It is written at a level that my Spanish II and higher students can read it independently, while my Spanish I students can read with assistance. The chapters are a perfect length for this setting and have just enough action to keep the plot moving forward. I have just added Jennifer's 2nd book "La Niñera" to my FVR library, and I am looking forward to her 3rd novel which I hear is coming out soon! Keep your eyes out for it!

Highly recommended!

I have this book as part of my classroom FVR library for my Spanish 1 students, and I have found that many of my middle school students gravitate to this book. It is very comprehensible for my novice students, and has themes that appeal to the adolescent reader. Highly recommended!

My students really enjoyed this book. The language was very simple and accessible for emerging language learners. This book is ideal for first- and second-year students and would make a great addition to any classroom library. Highly recommend.

Great choice

My kids loved this book! I am a CI teacher and I used it as an free voluntary reading book for second semester Spanish 1 and Spanish 2. The story is awesome and very appropriate given the tough political climate lately.

Essense: A Love, California Series Novel, Book 4 is by Jan Moran. This continues the story of four friends in California. Scarlett is a lawyer, Verena makes skincare products, Fianna is a designer, and Dahlia is a perfumer. They are all working to grow their businesses but have time for love.

Dahlia is in Cannes but not for the Film Festival which is going on. She is here to elope with Kevin. She has lived in the headlines all her life with her Grandmother, Camille Dubois. Camille is the owner and the perfumer behind Dubois Perfumes and is quite wealthy now. Dahlia has lived in her shadow all her life. Her Mother left shortly after Dahlia was born and had never been heard of since. Camille has never had her declared dead as she continues to hope. Dahlia has set out to develop a company of her own- Dahlia D. She is making her own perfumes. One, Runway, is doing quite well. She developed it for her friend Fiannaâs clothing line. Stunning

Most books move me deeply. I am usually able to make an arbitrary connection to the most mundane character. However I felt this book was written about me, my experiences, the places I've been and, most of all, the emotions I've encountered in my adult life. Reflecting upon it, I think Amy Impellizzeri conveys what, probably, most women go through as we traverse our careers, love lives, friendships, marriages and motherhood. Additionally the imagery is visually stunning, the sand can be felt under your feet, the wine tasted, and your heart will be clenched as you journey through this book. This is truly an all around beautiful, and beautifully written, novel.

Read this in one sitting

Reading this book makes me want to recruit Kate Hilton as my life coach. It's funny and wise, full of tough love, doesn't sugar-coat the mistakes we all make. It's more than the perfect summer read, it's a good companion. Read it all in one big binge.

Couldn't put it down

A thought provoking read and a real page turner. The author deftly pulls us into the story and all the characters, There are all the emotions of love, self-absorption, guilt betrayal and getting caught up in the allure and demands of career. We can identify with the characters in many ways and get totally drawn into their lives. A great read ... totally recommend

All About Science Fiction

A collection of works and commentary by the impressive intellect of Margaret Atwood. If you are a science fiction fan, this is well worth your reading.

Another Good Atwood Read

I haven't finished this yet, but I love it already. Margaret Atwood, famous for novels like "The Blind Assassin", "Handmaid's Tale" and "Year of the Flood" is also an astute writer of non-fiction essays on contemporary pop culture. Here she finally tilts at sci-fi, a genre that alternately has been considered too schmaltzy and too sacred to be critiqued.

Anyone who has read this book should also consider "Strange Things: The Malevolent North in Canadian Literature" and "Payback: Debt and the Shadow Side of Wealth".

Fascinating read

I absolutely love the way this novel is written. The beginning really spoke to me and helped me with a difficult time and set of decisions in my life, and watching Joan grow and reclaim herself throughout it inspired time to seek out other was of getting in touch with myself. I love that there are excerpts from Joan's stories and novels included and intertwined with her own story.

I got this as an e-book and it was quite long but the themes covered seemed to speak to me in a very personal way. As women we often give up self for others. It was interesting to go with her as she found herself again.

Overall I enjoyed the book

Overall I enjoyed the book. As a woman that has a career and raised children I could relate to it. However, the fact that Joan came from such success/money and did not face some of the challenges the rest of us face took something away from it. I think it would have been more inspirational if she were from a more typical background. Although semi successful-I can not go off to India and live in a hotel why I resurrect myself!

Very good listen

A great insight in to what life would've been like as a young Jewish male trying to find his way in the gentile world of that era. I'm a sap and love all tied-up happy endings; so even though I didn't get the outcome of my desire, I like that the ending left open possibilities. Great job Ms Woulff.
