Remember the messaging for kids to drink milk with each meal to grow big and strong bones? Up to 90% of peak bone mass is achieved by the age of 18 in girls and 20 in boys, making it a critical period for bone development. Strong bones built during this time provide a foundation for lifelong skeletal health, reducing the risk of osteoporosis and fractures later in life. So while it may not be at the top of their minds during those adolescent years, bone health at this age sets the foundation for bone health for the rest of their lives.
