You can love being a mom and still want something that challenges you, gives you a sense of accomplishment, and is yours. But building a business around motherhood also means being honest about the season of life you’re in, including how much time, energy, and sleep you actually have.
In this episode, I’m joined by my friend and past coaching client Jessica DeNotta, founder of Childhood by Design. Jessica shares how she went from being an elementary school teacher and mom of four to building her own business as a sleep consultant. We talk about how she realized her first business idea wasn’t the right fit, why changing direction wasn’t a waste of time, and how paying attention to what people were already coming to her for helped her find the business that fit her life.

Have you ever been in the middle of something and suddenly remembered the permission slip you need to sign, the birthday text you forgot to send, or the thing you need to buy for your kid’s school party? Those little reminders have a way of popping into our heads at the least convenient times. And even when the tasks themselves are small, carrying all of them around can take up a surprising amount of mental energy.
In this episode, I share what I’ve learned from thinking about those unfinished tasks as open tabs in our brains, and why closing some of them can help us conserve energy for our businesses, our families, and the things that matter most. I also tell you the end-of-day practice I’ve used for years to close out my tabs and start fresh.

If you’ve been putting off starting a business because you think you’ll have to become a social media person, I have good news: you don’t. Social media can be a useful tool for some businesses, but it isn’t the price of admission to entrepreneurship.
In this episode, I explore what actually matters when you’re starting a business, when using social media makes sense, and the simple thing I want you to try this week if social media has been keeping you from getting started.

Have you ever had a goal that you really wanted, but had absolutely no idea how you were going to make it happen? Maybe you’ve thought about quitting your job, starting a business, or creating a different kind of life, but the path from where you are now to where you want to be feels impossible to see. That doesn’t mean you’re not ready to begin.
In this episode, I share the story of a goal I wrote down almost a decade ago and finally achieved: hosting a retreat for my clients in Colorado. We’ll look at why your goals should be connected to how you want your life to feel, rather than simply what you think you’re supposed to accomplish, and why you don’t need to know the entire how before you take the first step. Sometimes the next step only becomes clear once you start moving.

When you’re building a business alongside motherhood, it’s easy to believe that doing more is the answer. More strategies, more content, more learning, more clients, more time spent trying to make everything work. But sometimes, trying to do too much is actually making it harder to create the results you want.
In this episode, I share what I’ve learned about doing less in my own business, from stepping away from strategies that took more energy than they were worth to letting go of the pressure to create the perfect signature system.
I’m not talking about stopping your efforts or hoping your business will magically grow. I’m talking about taking some of the pressure off, trusting yourself, and focusing on what actually moves you forward. You don’t have to make every action a home run. Sometimes, you just need to put the ball in play, keep showing up, and take the next step.

We all have some area of our lives where we’re wondering if we have enough. Enough time, enough money, enough energy, enough support, or enough of something else. But constantly focusing on what’s missing can actually make it harder to create the life we want.
In this episode, I explore what I call the enoughness problem and why it can follow us into every area of our lives, including entrepreneurship. I share stories from my own life and coaching, including a client who felt like she didn’t have enough time with her kids and my own experience of feeling like I wasn’t doing enough at home or wasn’t supported enough. I help you see how focusing on lack can affect the way you experience the life you already have.

You can have a great business strategy, an amazing offer, and a clear idea of who you want to help, but at some point, you have to be willing to talk about what you do and why it matters. For many of us, especially through the transition into motherhood and entrepreneurship, using our voice with confidence can feel much harder than it sounds.
In this episode, I’m joined by my friend Alexina Atin Shaber, a communication coach who helps women rediscover and strengthen their voices. We talk about what it means to sound like yourself, how your voice can create connection, and why speaking from the heart can be so much more powerful than trying to sound polished or perfect. If you’ve been holding back from sharing what you really think, care about, or have to offer, I hope this conversation gives you a little more confidence to use your voice.

If you’ve ever set a boundary with your partner, your kids, or your family and then felt even more frustrated when they didn’t respect it, there’s a good chance what you set wasn’t actually a boundary. It was a rule. And understanding the difference can completely change the way you think about boundaries and your own sense of control.
In this episode, I share a coaching conversation that helped one of my clients see her boundaries in a completely different way. You'll hear examples from marriage, parenting, and everyday life to show how this shift can help you feel more empowered instead of helpless, frustrated, or resentful.

When you really want something to go well, it’s easy to start worrying about all the ways it could go wrong. Maybe you want to feel closer to your child, succeed in a new role, have a better relationship, or grow your business. When you’re carrying a lot of worry and fear about the outcome, it can affect how you show up. Without realizing it, you can end up creating more of the very thing you were trying to avoid.
In this episode, I walk you through three steps for interrupting this pattern when you notice it happening. I explain how the stories we tell ourselves create emotions, how those emotions influence our actions, and how those actions can move us toward or away from the results we actually want. You’ll learn how to separate a story from a fact, find the stories that already exist within you that serve you, and ask yourself how you want to show up in the moment.

What would make your life feel rich? Maybe it’s picking your kids up from school every day, taking a month off every summer, traveling with your family, or simply not opening your laptop after bedtime. Your version of a rich life doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. It’s about getting intentional about the things that bring you the most joy, connection, and freedom, and then figuring out how to create more of them.
In this episode, I share the conversation my husband and I had six years ago that changed the way we thought about our time, money, and the life we wanted to create together. I discuss what a rich life actually means and invite you to think about your own unique, rich life. Because your business doesn’t have to be the destination. It can be the vehicle that gives you the flexibility, income, and freedom to create the life you actually want.
