Paul’s epistle to the Colossians is meant to boost a church that is struggling to maintain orthodoxy in a multicultural society with many competing belief systems and traditions. He exhorts us even today to remember we have received Christ, so we should walk in him. In a world of division, you and Jesus are inseparable. Don’t let the world define who you are. Guard yourself against worldly wisdom, lies, and demonic manipulation. Jesus is the only true and finaly authority. All the rest will pass away. Our covenant is with the one who has conquered the world of sin and suffering and death. So walk in him with your head held high. Walk in his light. In his confidence. In his peace.
