We love the latest and greatest. We love to explore new strategies. We are always trying to "figure out" the best way to accomplish something. In this episode, Caleb is here to briefly discuss the immense power behind Nike's slogan "Just Do it". In an odd sense, it is freeing because it drowns out all the noise and self talk that can be so inhibiting towards our fitness success! Stop the excuses, get up, and "JUST DO IT".
It is proven that habits will stick when there are built in, structured forms of satisfaction with the habits. In other words, when you create consistent and attractive rewards for your habits, then you are much more likely to perform them. Fitness is no exception to this rule. Caleb breaks down what he simply calls "Level 1" and "Level 2" rewards when it comes to fitness and how they are so crucial to pulling you along in your fitness journey, while at the same time making the process significantly "lighter" and more enjoyable!
We often fail in life because we rely too much on our willpower. Well here's the reality...your willpower ain't that great. If we can learn to set ourselves up for success in our fitness journey, we will be well on our way to making some real change and getting consistent. How can you change your environment? What simple changes can you make that will lower the resistance to getting your workout in? In this episode, Caleb discusses the power of setting yourself up for success in life and how that directly applies to your fitness journey!
Another silent killer of your fitness journey is negotiation which by definition is "discussion aimed at reaching an agreement." We like to stay in the discussion phase but really struggle to move on to the agreement or decision phase. We so often say we are going to do something but then we allow ourselves an out by engaging in this back and forth, teeter totter type of mental game. MAKE A DECISION and STICK WITH IT. It's awfully simply, but not easy to actually execute. In this episode, Caleb breaks down the 3 primary ways in which we must make a firm decision with our fitness journey and how this will give you clarity and structure in order to move forward and reach your goals!
Brian Whittington, an elite physical therapist from Wisconsin comes onto the show to expose the power of fear and how it can greatly hinder your fitness progress. He dives deep into why this fear is so powerful but more than that, he discusses how one can overcome that fear. With his advanced training in neuroscience, Brian understands what really goes on in the brain when it comes to movement and how one can shatter the fear that could be holding us back. He shares client stories that uncover the reality of fear and how he helps them push through those mental barriers. Millions of people are trying to "become fit", but they don't currently see themselves as fit. Therefore, they subconsciously think and act as an "unfit" person would, rationalizing every time they slip up in their fitness journey. What if we flipped the script? What if you labeled yourself as fit? What would happen? How would you think? How would you act? History has shown that if you TRULY saw yourself as fit, regardless of any objective fitness measure, you would think and act as a fit person. Attack your fitness journey from the inside out by first taking an honest analysis of your identity and be open to an identity shift!
In this episode we go deep into the idea of having a WHY when it comes to fitness. Merely telling yourself I want to lost 10 pounds or run a 5k is not a serious enough WHY. Today, we discuss the importance of unraveling all the layers of who we are to discover the ACTUAL WHY when it comes to fitness. Here's the reality: If you do not have a real, compelling WHY, then you are not going to have the ability to persevere when your feelings are telling you to not get your workout in. Coach Rick aka R DUB shares his emotional story of his WHY and how his family causes him to get after it day in and day out!
