Sometimes you feel discombobulated. Out of the groove of working out, playing regularly, having good games. You wonder why you played so well last week and this week not a ball is in the court! Sometimes things throw you off, things come up good and bad. At one point, Danielle wondered if going to Canadian Nationals was going to come unraveled.
Then you get back in play, you work hard, work at it and it comes together. It's ebbs and flows. They happen in pickleball, they happen in life.

This week Briar and Danielle talk about setting expectations for yourself . There are win days and there are days when maybe it doesn’t feel like a winner. Putting the time in and you are more likely to reach your intended goals. Our Friday morning Drill and Practice Group with our friends is where we practice shots over and over again. We put the time in.
Practicing pickleball shots, position and strategies you would encounter in a game. And doing it over and over again, it helps you coordinate your body and brain. The more balls you see the better. Repeat, repeat.
Briar digs into specific shots to practice. Danielle remembers when she started her business. Do the work. Keep doing the work. Invest the time. Tell your story.

This week, Danielle and Briar talk about how we talk to each other in our pickleball games. Danielle is playing in a tournament and getting ready by taking a lesson, practicing, drilling, playing. Briar has read interesting materials on professional tennis player communication with winning and losing teams, patterns of communication, and the differences between rec and competitive play. Are the ways we talk to each other the same or different. What about between men and women? What words can we use. Does everyone want to talk in a game?
How do you keep yourself from getting into a funk during a game when mistakes are made. Keeping your spirits up is not as easy as you need it to be.
What about co-workers or employees who aren't as responsive at taking criticism, how do you work with them and get everyone on the same page.
Figure out your court language!

Briar and Danielle are talking about getting started with learning to play pickleball. If you are thinking about picking up a paddle - where do you start? How do you get from the couch to the court?
Taking it another step - you have an idea for a business, what are you doing to get started?
Don’t be intimidated! You don’t need a partner and you don't need equipment. You do need proper shoes and a paddle and lots of places have paddles on hand. The Pickleball community is growing so fast - people are welcoming.
And if you have a business idea - try it on your own. Make sure you like the idea before making big investments. It’s great to collaborate with people but keep it simple and just jump in.
