This week we are talking about friendship. Seems like a broad topic. Why is friendship different in pickleball than in any other sport. It may not be any different but we think pickleball promotes friendship more broadly, more easily.
It is how we met, and it is how I met others after moving to this community a couple of years ago.
Let’s talk about how friendship is interwoven in pickleball

In this episode, Briar and Danielle speak about Mentorship in sports and most specifically in pickleball. We are thrilled to have the insights from a female pickleball star and mentor here in our community as our guest, Robyn Percival. Robyn is an elegant, skillful player who I first met in our Friday morning drill session and has been a mentor and friend of Briar for a long time.

Elitism.
Standard dictionary
Being elitist in the context of sports refers to the adoption of an exclusive or snobbish attitude, often associated with a sense of superiority, towards individuals or groups based on their perceived athletic abilities, achievements, or participation in particular sports.
What does that mean to you? Let's talk about it.

Briar and Danielle talk about pet peeves....court etiquette.
We've been feeling lately like, well complaining. Court annoyances and irritations about pickleball. Are we becoming those people? These really aren't problems at all in the context of the world but in pickleball, they are real.

No one wants to talk about this but just like every other sport, it is a thing. It can happen. And more and more people are playing pickleball so naturally, injury will be and is on the rise as well.
Most people think pickleball is a low-impact sport - not too much running, not like lifting weights, playing rugby or football…..but still - strains, shoulders, elbows, knees, ankle injuries abound.
Pickleball is full of quick lateral movements, sudden stops, reaching up quickly for that overhead slam. Briar and Danielle talk about the kinds of injuries pickleballers get and what you can do to prevent them.

What are drills really? We have already done one podcast about drilling, we sure talk about it a lot amongst our friends. Unanimously it’s the one topic of conversation we talk about, and talk about how we need to drill but then we don't really do a lot of it. Why is that? More fun to play games than work at improving our games? C'mon.
