The third of a series of five theme talks exploring the topic 'Right Relationship: Practising Love, Peace, and Justice in Everyday Life' by Arek Malecki and Laura Dobson. Arek Malecki is a ministry student with the Unitarian College and the Luther King Centre for Theology and Ministry in Manchester. He admires people who able to sit still and upright through times of prayer as he doesn't understand how that's even possible. Being a serial fidgeter himself, he embraces the idea of embodied spirituality - engaging the body, movement and senses in spiritual practice. He has recently qualified as a fitness instructor and teaches regular classes in gyms in Leeds area. He recognises that movement and sensory experiences are his spiritual practice. Laura Dobson grew up in a Warwickshire farming family and now lives in Greater Manchester with her husband and their dog. She has been a Unitarian since 2013, qualified as a minister in 2021, and serves the congregations at Chorlton and Macclesfield. Laura is passionate about embodied spirituality, enjoys daily walks around the Goyt valley with her border collie, loves to sing loudly, and sporadically practices Kundalini and Yin Yoga.

The second of a series of five theme talks exploring the topic 'Right Relationship: Practising Love, Peace, and Justice in Everyday Life' by Nicola Temple and Lizzie Kingston-Harrison. Nicola has been a Unitarian since she first attended Hucklow Summer School as a teenager. She grew up in the Northwest and for some years was a member of Ullet Road Church in Liverpool; she now lives in rural Bedfordshire where she enjoys walking and connecting with the outdoors. Nicola is deeply curious about the world around her; in her free time, she loves to read, swim, and solve cryptic crossword puzzles, while in her professional life she works as an Avionic Systems Design Engineer. Nicola is currently unable to attend a congregation locally, however she engages with national Unitarian activities wherever possible - this includes volunteering as a GA youth leader and being a member of #Blessed young adult group. Lizzie works as Congregational Connections Lead for the GA and her role is to find new ways to connect our congregations so that we can share resources, serve our communities, and inspire each other. She loves building authentic and meaningful connections with people and creating spaces where ideas can be shared freely and creatively. She cares deeply about Unitarian principles and left her career in teaching to contribute to our loving and vibrant community. Lizzie's doctoral thesis is on the eighteenth-century Unitarian dissenter Joseph Priestley, and she has a deep respect for the radical and liberal values on which the movement is founded. Lizzie grew up in Norwich and now lives in Suffolk with her husband and daughters. The beautiful coastal countryside and the grounded and welcoming community at Framlingham Unitarian Meeting house have helped her to find a spiritual home.

Sarah attended the first Hucklow Summer School back in 1995 and is grateful to be still actively involved with Unitarianism and still passionate about the value of gathering together in small groups to explore our faith and our lives. Now retired from congregational ministry with Kensington Unitarians, she's enjoying getting to know the Essex countryside and coastline, and developing an enthusiasm for birdwatching. Jane is currently serving as Ministry Coordinator with Kensington Unitarians, where she has been a member for over 20 years, having completed ministry training with Unitarian College in 2021. Jane also practices as a Spiritual Director, having trained on the Encounter Course at the London Centre for Spiritual Direction. Jane has been involved in running Hucklow Summer School since 2005 and is fanatical about the power of Engagement Groups and Adult Religious Education to transform lives, communities, and the world. In between work, study, looking after her dad, and mucking about on the internet, Jane enjoys gardening, birdwatching, and jigsaws, and is a keen armchair spectator of cycling.

The fifth of a series of five theme talks exploring the topic 'Why are we here? Discerning our Unitarian mission in an upturned world' by Kate Brady McKenna. Kate (she/her) is minister with the Unitarian congregation in Bury, East Lancashire, where she has been for nearly five years since moving from Norwich. She loves Jesus and Gaia and celebrates whichever festivals make her heart and soul sing, which allows for a lot of celebration. She is proudly Queer. Her desert island book would be a compilation of the entire Chalet School series, and for music she would take everything by Steeleye Span, although she'd pretend she'd take everything by Telemann. She is a proud dog-bore, likes making jam, and gets sad if she doesn't see the sea a few times a year. Her favourite hymn book is the purple one, and she loves the psalms.

The fourth of a series of five theme talks exploring the topic 'Why are we here? Discerning our Unitarian mission in an upturned world' by Stephen Lingwood. Stephen Lingwood is a pioneer community minister, serving the congregation of Cardiff Unitarians / Undodiaid Caerdydd and doing grass-roots mission work in inner-city Cardiff. Previously he worked for nine years as minister of Bank Street Unitarian Chapel in Bolton. He is author of The Unitarian Life: Voices from the Past and Present and Seeking Paradise: A Unitarian Mission for Our Time. He works in Riverside, a diverse, inner-city area of Cardiff, engaging in dialogue with artists and political radicals, working on climate activism, and collaborating with other faith-based activists. He is exploring what it means to seek paradise in one urban neighbourhood in the age of the climate crisis.

The third of a series of five theme talks exploring the topic 'Why are we here? Discerning our Unitarian mission in an upturned world' by Rory Castle Jones. Rory is minister-elect of Gellionnen Unitarian Chapel in the Swansea Valley and also works part-time as the Communications Officer for the General Assembly of Unitarian and Free Christian Churches. Rory first discovered Unitarianism in 2015, when searching for a chapel willing to conduct same-sex marriage ceremonies. He married his husband at Gellionnen Chapel in 2016 and became involved in congregational life. In 2018, he gave up his job in Higher Education to work full-time for the Unitarian movement and to train for the Unitarian ministry with Unitarian College, completing his training in Summer 2021. He lives in the small village of Craig Cefn Parc in the Swansea Valley with his husband Rhys and their dog Edna.

The second of a series of five theme talks exploring the topic 'Why are we here? Discerning our Unitarian mission in an upturned world' by Shana Parvin Begum. Having attended Summer School twice (in-person!) Shana is really honoured to be invited to be a theme speaker this year. Shana has a background in media, trained in counselling and yoga, and works with children where she brings in her passion for psycho-education and wellbeing. Coming from a lineage of Sufi pirs Shana is also a practitioner of Bhakti Yoga and was given the spiritual name Sri Devi by her Guru. She enjoys playing her ukulele, drumming, chanting and dancing like nobody's watching.

Jo is the minister of Mill Hill Unitarian Chapel, Leeds - a progressive, inclusive community offering a fresh approach to the sacred. He loves poetry, theatre, film, performance, art and music. He has qualifications and experience in Ministry, Theology, Study of Religion, Drama, Counselling and Co-counselling. He leads worship, celebrates life events and offers pastoral support and counselling. Before ministry he worked in the theatre for over twenty years as an actor, including work at the RSC, National Theatre, Old Vic, Royal Court, Almeida and as an independent performer directing new writing and devising new work at festivals in Edinburgh, Dublin, Cardiff and all over the World. Jo is married to Ann, a ceramic artist, and they have two young children.

The fifth of a series of five theme talks exploring the topic 'Speaking the Truth in Love' by Linda Hart. Linda Hart is a Unitarian Universalist minister serving the Tahoma Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Tacoma, Washington. She has served congregations large and small across the US, and at the Richmond and Putney Unitarian Church in London. While at Summer School in years past, she could be found in the back row knitting while listening to theme talks. She is looking forward to having quality learning time along with quality knitting time while attending Summer School from the comfort of her arm chair.
