The 2022 Auburn Football team has named their three captains: Owen Pappoe, Derick Hall, and John Samuel Shenker. Tune in to dive into each of their journeys and how they chose The Loveliest Village on The Plains. Each captain speaks on what true leadership means to them, some of the aspects of life they love doing outside of ball, and much more.

The 12-year NFL veteran receiver was a national champion and three-time SEC champion with the Florida Gators. He then transitioned to coaching with four NFL franchises. Coach Hilliard comes from a family of crazy football talent, but hard work and great decision making was vital to his athletic success. Ike brings that mindset everyday even as a coach, while striving to breathe life and knowledge into his players. Tune in for more!

Coach Bedell is a self-proclaimed journeyman, who played in the NFL with five different franchises as an offensive lineman. In this podcast, Bedell reflects on his time in the league and the different leaders he was around. Coach Brumbaugh focuses on the details, developing the quality over the quantity, and leading by example. Throughout his coaching career, he’s had a lot of influence over some of today’s top NFL pass rushers: Za'Darius Smith, Chandler Jones, Bud Dupree, and Josh Allen. Zac Etheridge had a dream to play ball for the Tigers. Ever since he was born, he was going to Auburn. While fulfilling that dream, he was a freshman All-American, helped bring a national title back to The Plains, and endured a moment that changed his perspective for the rest of his life. Transitioning from a player to a coach was a move he was excited to make and is now the Associate Head Coach and Secondary Coach for the school he dreamed to play for, the Auburn Tigers. One who’s full of knowledge of the game, Coach Etheridge lives to inspire and impact those around him and emphasizes the importance of listening and observation. Being great on the field means being great in the weight room! Jeff Pitman’s presence has been very influential on hundreds of student athletes while being a strength coach for 27 years. Many of the players he’s trained have gone on to the next level not only as professional athletes, but also as quality men with high character. Roc Bellantoni has 28 years of coaching experience, including 15 years as a defensive coordinator and another four years as a special teams coordinator. With this knowledge of the game, Coach Roc knows how important the impact of being a coach is to his players and how lasting that is on their life even after college. He emphasizes servant leadership, focusing on each day as they come, and always being available to help others. He is currently the special teams and edge linebackers coach at Auburn University. Dana Marquez is entering his seventeenth season with Auburn Football as the Associate AD of Equipment. He loves what he does and attacks life with a special perspective because each day to him is extra special. From cooking, to banking, to equipment, his career has placed him all across the country within many industries. Dana knows how to rejoice to the highs in life, but what is most important is that he knows how to respond when life is at its lowest. That exemplifies true leadership! Will Friend was a four-year starter on the offensive line for the University of Alabama. He was a two-time All-SEC selection and was listed on Alabama’s Team of the Decade for the 1990’s. Learning by his father’s example at a young age, he knew he’d want to follow in his coaching footsteps. Coach Friend has been surrounded by many legendary coaches throughout the years on different staffs, and has become a well-known name in the offensive game of coaching.
