    Hear about lots of Halloween and fall fun happenings at the Troy Public Library, starting with the "First Annual Fall Fest" on October 21st from noon to 4:00. That event features scarecrow making, tarot reading, live music, a "story walk," chicken meals, and more. Other October activities include book discussions of "City of Girls" (Gilbert, 2019) and "Payback's a Witch" (Harper, 2021); a wreath making workshop; and a teen anime club.     Thom Francis welcomes Anthony Ragler, who was the featured poet at Nitty Gritty Slam #85 at the Low Beat in Albany, NY on Tuesday, January 6, 2015.
    Anthony Ragler is an artist known for using persona and body movement to attack social stigmas and overly traditional forms of thinking. Anthony was a member of the 2014 NYC Urbana Slam Team which placed 2nd at the 2014 National Poetry Slam, as well as the 2013 Urban Word Slam Team which placed 3rd internationally at the Brave New Voices Festival.
    Anthony has performed at numerous venues, including the United Nations, Nuyorican Poets Café, Symphony Space, Lincoln Center, and the Apollo Theatre.
    Anthony's poetry touches on childhood, family, and the ever-changing world around him.

    50a, the New York State law that required the concealment of Police disciplinary records, was overturned in 2020. Since then, the NYCLU has been working hard to extract records from different municipalities and the State Police. Bobby Hodgson, a supervising attorney at the New York Civil Liberties Union, has been leading these efforts.   • Hudson Gallery Hosts Street Artists Mirza Hamid
    Mirza Hamid's work looks at the origins of humanity. He creates pigments from soil and he paints where the general public has access: the streets. Beginning from the streets but also working on canvas and paper, Mirza Hamid's exhibition "The Origins Of All Things" is currently on display at The New Gallery in Hudson, NY, tucked away behind the Basilica. Hudson Mohawk Magazine correspondent Sina Basila Hickey was there and spoke with Haleh Atabeigi of the New Gallery.
