  • Canyon Ryan on Albany Common Councils' Anti-Homelessness Initiatives
    This week, the Albany Common Council is considering two separate initiatives that advocates for the homeless feel add up to a harmful and dangerous policy. The first, an anti-panhandling resolution, is set to be voted on as this show airs on Tuesday, October 3. The other is a law creating new penalties for loitering and littering that will be addressed in committee on October 4. Moses Nagel spoke with Canyon Ryan executive director of United Tenants of Albany about these initiatives and what he believes could be a better approach.

  • Ryan Bronsan is Running for Troy City Council District 2
    Election day is November 7, 2023. This week we are covering Troy City Council District 2. The candidates are Democrat Shikole Struber, an information security officer, and Republican Ryan Bronsan, a union electrician. Last year Ryan ran against City Council person Steven Figueroa in a special election to fill Kim Ashe-McPherson's seat when she officially resigned after taking a plea deal in connection with her casting absentee ballots in two other people’s names in elections held in 2021.   • Beatriz Cortez Brings a Volcano to Troy via The Hudson River
    Beatriz Cortez is one of the artists exhibiting as part of “Shifting Center” coming to EMPAC. The exhibition poses sculpture as time-based and presents it with moving-image and spatial-audio installations across the concert hall, proscenium stage, and studios at EMPAC. On October 29, join us at the Sanctuary for a reception for the arrival of the monumental sculpture “Ilopango, the Volcano that Left” as it docks in Troy after traveling the Hudson River onboard the John J. Harvey fireboat, before it is installed at EMPAC.
