The money to solve the climate crisis already exists — it’s just in the wrong hands. New research1 shows that the U.S. government showers the fossil fuel industry with $35 billion in giveaways every year – almost double the amount it received just eight years ago. Nearly all of these subsidies flow into excess profits for the fossil fuel industry. An estimated 20,000 joined the March in NYC. We hear from a variety of voices, including Lt. As President Trump openly increases his push to institute authoritarian rule, throughout the Capital District at high traffic points, groups of concerned residents gather weekly to hold up signs to protect democracy and free speech, oppose the crackdown on immigrants, defend the environment, and to call to respect the rule of law. Ellen Sinopoli of The Ellen Sinopoli Dance Company talks with Hudson Mohawk Magazine's Andrea Cunliffe at the local sidewalk juice bar in South Troy. They talk of the celebration of 35 years the ESDC.

In honor of its 35th anniversary, ESDC is making 35 visits to sites around the Capital Region inviting audiences to have an up-close and personal experience with dance. Performing on a large mat of interlocking squares around which the audience gathers, the dancers perform works from the company’s repertoire of over 90 dances along with new ones specifically created for this series. There’s no admission charge, no lighting, no frills…but lots of movement invention, excitement and fun for all ages! Each of the 35 performances will feature a slightly different program — no two will be exactly the same!.

On Monday, September 1, 2025, the labor community came together for the Capital District Area Labor Federation's 'Labor Day 2025 Celebration - Rally and Picnic' at Lanthier's Grove Corporation on 4 Dunsbach Ferry Road in Latham. Our labor correspondent, Willie Terry, was there, engaging with union members to hear their thoughts on the labor issues and concerns that were at the forefront this Labor Day 2025. In this seven-part series of voices from the Labor Day picnic and rally, Willie interviews Seth Cohen, President of the Capital District Area Labor Federation.

Katherine Bauer and Joyce Lainé of Le Ratoire film collective return to NATURE Lab and the Sanctuary this Saturday, September 20th. Their workshop at NATURE Lab will guide participants in alternative techniques used to develop photographs, which includes using a stew of plants and other natural materials to reveal unique images. In the evening, the duo will present a performative screening of their 16mm films and others produced by the collective. HMM producer Carolyn Tennant talks with the artists about Le Ratoire, their favorite plants, and their upcoming visit.
