Jacob Wick journeys to Athens from Mexico City once again for Standard Deviation 3 on August 18th, 2019.  The solo trumpet player performs “today seems like a nice enough day for this."  A weather-based composition first performed at the Blanton Museum in Austin, TX, during the No Idea Festival. The performer must add together the high and low temperatures (in Celsius) for the day to arrive at the duration of the piece. The percent chance of precipitation determines the amount of silence in the performance.  Jacob nested another of one of his compositions in the middle called "Your Daddy's Rich."  Altogether a challenging but rewarding experience.

Bassist Luca Lombardi was the third performer at Standard Deviation 3 on August 18th, 2019.  This is a 13 minute composition that Luca wrote based on the Fibonacci sequence of numbers.  Luca gives a brief explanation of the concept before he begins the piece.  This solo performance on the double bass is beautiful and hypnotic.

The second performance at Standard Deviation 3 on August 18th, 2019.  Pianist Greg Hankins of Whitehall Jazz Collective and baritone vocalist Isiah Feken explore the poetry of William Blake through Benjamin Britten's tour-de-force composition "Songs and Proverbs of William Blake."

August 18th, 2019 was Standard Deviation 3, our third iteration of the experimental music series curated by Dan Nettles of Kenosha Kid.  Dan opened the night once again with a solo guitar exploration of some of his Kenosha Kid compositions.  Also known as "The show Dan played with the bell."

Birthday Offering is a side project of Avery Leigh Draut (vocals, synth) and Zack Milster (bass, guitar) from Night Palace and Paul Stevens (vibraphone, singing saw). They took us on an inspiring dream-like sonic journey at the house on June 9th, 2019 with a mix of original songs, classical pieces, and clever deep-cut indie covers.  Greg Hankins sits in on piano.

On June 9, 2019 Andrea DeMarcus (Cicada Rhythm) and Greg Hankins (Whitehall Jazz Collective) joined forces for the second time as a duet. Now under the name Tall Order, they delivered a brilliant performance. They were joined by Paul Stevens on vibraphone for a cover of How You Hold Your Arms by Callers during this set which features many classic songs.

The final act of Middle East Orchestra night on March 10th, 2019.  Cygnus explores the outer reaches of Asian and Western music through improvisation.  Featuring Rob Foster on flute, Louis Romanos on percussion, and Travis Shaw on bass.  This performance features three movements: Cepheus, Draco, and Arrival.

March 10th, 2019 we had our second annual Middle East Orchestra night curated and led by Jeremy Raj.  The ensemble led us on a journey thru contemporary and traditional music from Egypt, Turkey, Israel, Syria and more.  A truly magical evening.

Ultrafaux is a Baltimore trio that makes original instrumental music in the style of Django Reinhardt, Jazz Manouche, and Gypsy Folk.  They performed an impressive set of beautiful compositions coupled with fiery acoustic guitar explorations.  January 27th, 2019.
